"The resort was beautiful with the beach just steps away. The room we were assigned was too hot for an American. The air conditioner barely worked and kept the room around 80°. Once we were moved to a new room in a different building things greatly improved. The staff was great when it came to giving us a fan to make it through the night and then moving our re-packed bags while we’re on an adventure in Tulum. I do suggest they get new AC units in the buildings that have issues. Otherwise, the restaurants, bars, pools, rooms, staff, beach, and amenities were amazing!"

"If you want to vacation on a budget, this is the place. However, despite this place being semi-affordable, I do think it was still overpriced for what you get. The best part of the property was the vegetation. The resort is massive and for every meal you will need to take a shuttle which comes in 15 minute intervals. Not very senior citizen or stroller friendly, since there is a lot of getting on and getting off. The staff is pretty friendly but if you want something done you need to demand it. My app wasn’t working to make a dinner reservation and they were telling me to walk to guest services instead of trying to fix the app. After persisting for help, they said the manager could fix it and he ended up doing so in one second and they looked annoyed. The first impression of the property was horrendous due to Karina, a lady working in the lobby having a big attitude and making me feel unwelcome. I cannot believe she is allowed to treat customers like this, she needs to be fired. All I asked her was if there were any other places to get coffee given the bar at the lobby was closed. She redirected me to the bar at the lobby and I told her it was closed due to the machine being broken to which she rolled her eyes and said “Oh my god calm down.” and “WOW you need to RELAX!” after interacting with her the door to my room suddenly stopped working. Watch out for her. Buffet was good and French, Indian and Mexican. Italian was not good at all. Only ok coffee is lobby made by Jesus."

"There are better Riu's, this one needs updated towels and the smell of them were musty. The place is beautiful from the outside. Also the Taxi service they keep on the grounds are expensive and if you use other service like IDrive app which is so much cheaper, you have to wait for a QR code the IDriver cancels. Entertainment people was excellent!"

"The hotel itself was amazing, but there are no elevators on this property. If you traveling with heavy luggage, it’s sucks walking up 3 flights of stairs, and I feel bad making the staff take up the luggage. This property is definitely a more relaxed resort, but it’s just a short walk to Riu Tequila for nightlife. There is also a market right across the street which is really convenient."

"Palmaia never disappoints; it is quite like paradise in every way imaginable. The property itself is stunning, as are the accommodations. Every room faces the beach, and you can hear the tide even with the sliding door to your room closed. The rooms are immaculate and contribute to the Zen quality of the resort. The food is absolutely delicious. We have stayed here now four times, and the quality of the food is unwavering. Alas, we do have one complaint, which is they now include animal options for those who are not plant-based. But we believe this is so the owner can remain solvent, so it is a price we are willing to pay to sustain this beautiful place. The rituals, classes, and spa treatments, and the incredible people who take care of you doing your stay are the icing on the cake. If you are considering, do it! It is well worth it!"
