"My family generally enjoyed this traditional Japanese experience. The staff was absolutely wonderful, attentive, and friendly. The onsen on our deck was lovely, and we enjoyed our allotted 30 minutes in a private onsen elsewhere on the property. However, our room was old and smelled strongly of mildew. There was water damage on the ceiling and the wall. I opened the windows, but it only mitigated the smell so much. The futon mats were also very uncomfortable to sleep on. Even my kids complained about how uncomfortable they were, and they can usually sleep anywhere. We had a poor night's sleep and were happy to check out the next day. Finally, the food was not to our liking. I recognize this is probably just a cultural difference, but we are very adventurous eaters and we felt we needed to choke down our 8-course dinner as to not offend the staff. Overall, we appreciated the ryokan experience and highly praise the staff, but we would not return to this location. "

"Nazuna was truly the best part of our Japan travels, by far. It was the perfect reset after time spent in the busy cities. Nazuna is tucked away in the most serene location, an oasis that immediately calms your nervous system. Our room, the Nijo, was incredible. From the views, the private onsen, the complimentary tea and body care products, everything was thought out and considered. The room is clean, the bed so comfortable. And the food! Wow! I have an allergy to gluten and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and accommodating. Shout out to our dinner chef Rei, you prepared my favorite dish I had in Japan and we had such a great time with you. Thank you so much! We will be back. Thank you all! "

"We had a room with a private bath on the balcony. Our room was very clean and well appointed. My husband and I had separate single beds - not sure if I made a mistake with the booking or if that was standard. The location of the hotel is stunning. The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. There was a shuttle bus from the local train station which we didn’t know until a couple of days before our trip. The included teppinyaki dinner was one of our favourite dinners in our whole time in Japan. No tattoos allowed in the public baths, but the private bath was perfect for me. "

"This is a fantastic hotel with so much history. The staff were so lovely and accommodating and the facilities with the onsen, the garden, the bar, the lounge- everything is so lovely. They even upgraded our room view which was very nice. The only odd thing was a particular waitress that were serving us in the Japanese restaurant and also in the breakfast hall the next day. She was insistent on us buying a sake pairing when we didn’t want to. For the breakfast she also insisted we buy the breakfast package even though we had already ordered something else. I also found it odd that she gave us the bill before we had finished eating and she seemed to forget about our breakfast for 40 minutes. Other than that, it was absolutely amazing. The rest of the staff were incredibly accommodating and professional. "
