"We originally booked Sunset Marina Yacht Club, but at check-in the front desk told us it was overbooked and offered us an “upgrade” to Sunset Royal Beach Resort. We agreed and spent most of our five-day stay there, although we later visited Sunset Marina for one day. After seeing both properties, we definitely preferred Sunset Marina Yacht Club. The pool area had a much nicer vacation vibe and the food there was better. At Sunset Royal Beach Resort, the beach is beautiful, but the hotel itself feels more like a budget hotel than a 4-star resort. I would rate it about 2.5 out of 5. The food was very average, with small portions and very little flavor. There was also a lot of noise at night. Even on the 5th floor we could hear plates and cutlery clanging from the restaurant area and loud music late into the evening. The room also had a noticeable moldy smell, likely due to humidity. There is no swim-up pool bar, so every time you want a drink you have to leave the pool and go to the bar. Being able to visit other Sunset hotels was nice, but overall the experience was quite average, and we would probably not return. If possible, we would recommend Sunset Marina Yacht Club instead."

"I went just before the spring break crowd and it was a very cool spot for our group. The branch bar was the spot and all the activities was a nice plus. One problem we had was we booked three rooms with double beds and the hotel tried to put us in a making room. Us 30s guys trip for a bachelor party was not going to sleep in the same bed nor were we going to let someone sleep in cot or whatever they had. So for us, it was just the check-in process that was probably the only negative. I just think it could’ve gone better."

"Hands down the best resort I’ve ever stayed at. Charming white stucco villas with red tile roofs, unbelievably CLEAN, very quiet and calm, not a party hotel, warm saltwater pools, super safe, almost like its own little village, incredibly friendly staff, yummy restaurants. Book through the resort website instead of Expedia and definitely get the all-inclusive package (even if you don’t drink) with airport transportation. My single complaint is that the air conditioner is super loud. But I cannot believe how incredible this hotel is, especially for the price. "
