"This hotel was a lovely respite from busy Tokyo. Serene and stunning views! The Onsen was spectacular! The buffet dinner and breakfast was very good. The staff were very attentive, friendly and helpful. The beds were heavenly, they felt like being in a nest! I would rate the Ten-Yu a 9.8."

"Perfect relaxing stay. Staff were exceptionally kind and accommodating. Naia at Mitsuki was very knowledgeable and made each meal a wonderful experience. The clothing and environment was immaculate but welcoming. We would definitely come back. "

"Really lovely place with very hospitable and attentive hosts. Very nice Ryokan room and we got free upgrade to a room with personal onsan. Property has public onsan but men section was under service. Host offered timed use of ladies public onsan for privacy but as had one in room we declined. The property is a good 10min uphill walk from bus stop. So you may need to consider getting a taxi, or contacting host. On leaving we asked for a taxis but host kindly arranged for one of the staff to drop us to bus stop. Would highly recommend for traditional Japanese experience."

"Best hotel we stayed at in our whole trip. The room was a much welcomed change to the standard small hotel rooms in Japan that we got for the same cost, breakfast buffet was good though the food was the same on the 2 days we tried it. There are plenty of good restaurants to try within a few minutes walk and the bus stops right in front of the hotel were convenient. I wish we stayed longer but will definitely be back on our next trip. "

"We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The property is beautiful, peaceful, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. It’s conveniently located about a 7–10 minute ride from Gora Station via the hotel shuttle. The room was sparkling clean and very spacious, which made our stay extremely comfortable. Breakfast was better than average, with a good selection and quality. We especially enjoyed spending the evening at the hotel lounge, chatting and relaxing with the complimentary tea provided by the hotel — it was such a cozy and pleasant experience. The only downside is that there are no restaurants within walking distance, and the hotel restaurant requires advance reservations. Also, the shuttle service ends at 4:30 PM, but taxis are easily available from Gora Station for approximately ¥1,500. Overall, it’s a lovely and tranquil place to stay, highly recommended for those looking to unwind in Hakone."

"Great meal"

"Despite the beautiful location of the hotel, the staff and facilities were unfortunately very uninviting. No amenities were given and everything had to be bought at an extra cost. Additionally the hotel bar did not have change so you had to pay with the exact amount if you wanted to get a drink. Finally, the room itself was decent, felt clean but unfortunately the futons were extremely uncomfortable (and I sleep on Japanese futon very often). Don't count out hakone from your trip but I would recommend looking elsewhere if you plan on staying."
