Staffs spoke fluent English and are super communicative. Overall great experience, scenery of the onsen is amazing. Just want to highlight though, when we used the shuttle bus to arrive at the Gora Station, bus driver didn’t really help to carry the luggages down which is fine, just feels a bit weird to see the contrast before and after leaving the hotel. Overall, hospitality 9.5/10.

Hakone Airu was a wonderful stay that will form part of our unforgettable trip to Japan. At first, I was hesitant to book this hotel because of the limited number of reviews. The hotel itself was well maintained and the private open-air onsen (hot spring) in the room cannot be beat. The staff were helpful and courteous, and the dinner and breakfast menu was delightfully delicious. Hakone Suisen provided the best service I expected. The staff were really kind and friendly, the facility was clean and nice, onsen(both inside and outside) were great, and they even provided simple breakfast! Onsen is not big as normally depicted in Japanese media(movie/drama) but the water source is outstanding. Unfortunately, it is difficult to access other restaurants/cafe from the location by public transport, so I HIGHLY recommend you to enjoy your dinner at somewhere else before...

I love the hotel. Tsukino is an interesting and successful synthesis of traditional ryokan atmosphere with modern facilities. While my room comes with TV, fridge, western-style couch, a king sized bed, and a modern bathroom, the rest of the decoration is Japanese in style. The room also comes with a tube in the balcony. Susukinohara Ichinoyu was a lovely treat for us! Hakone was so different from the frenetic energy in Tokyo. There were many other resorts in the area, but were unable to accommodate our group of 17.
