A fantastic getaway. A trip down to Izu peninsula is a common adventure for most in the Tokyo area, however the choice between towns isn’t always clear. This property takes away any concern. You can spend the entire trip in the luxury of the hotel or venture out to see the small city of Ito. A rich history of European visitors and access to the mountains within 5 minutes drive. The staff was very friendly, always quick to help. The dining was great. We only ate the breakfast, but it was...

My only complaint is that I didn't stay there longer. The area and hotel are so calm and peaceful, and the beach views are unbelievable. Definitely recommend for those hoping to get off the beaten path. I'd recommend two nights so you get really get a chance to relax and take advantage of the baths, pool, and beach.

Excellent service. Not only was the stay memorable for us but the hotel staff exceeded expectations. When Uber blew it on a timed taxi hailing, they shuttled us up to the station to make our train - off schedule. Great service!
The buffet is also awesome and rooms are so sweet! Views are excellent and the location is at the heart of the beachfront. Pretty great spot to experience Atami.

Hakone Suisen provided the best service I expected. The staff were really kind and friendly, the facility was clean and nice, onsen(both inside and outside) were great, and they even provided simple breakfast!
Onsen is not big as normally depicted in Japanese media(movie/drama) but the water source is outstanding.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to access other restaurants/cafe from the location by public transport, so I HIGHLY recommend you to enjoy your dinner at somewhere else before...

Easily one of the best hotels I've every stayed at. The staff is courteous, helpful, and very professional. Despite its age, the hotel does not feel old or worn out - I was pleasantly surprised by how well maintained, clean, and neat everything was. The rooms were generously spacious, offered an amazing view of Mt. Fuji in the early morning, and a wonderful view of the bay at night. Hakone Airu was a wonderful stay that will form part of our unforgettable trip to Japan. At first, I was hesitant to book this hotel because of the limited number of reviews. In the end, I took a chance and went a "Superior Room" with in-room bath. To be honest, not sure what the difference is between the different room types. Such a room with dinner & breakfast seemed to cost a lot more at other hotels. Not sure what else you get in other places; but I'm sure it can't get much better than...

Fabulous beautiful location by the lake, convenient to public transport and easy views of Mount Fuji. It’s a brand new hotel with many amenities, good size room, exceptionally attentive staff plus the owner is incredibly nice and offers all kinds of tours. They also have vilas with private Onsen which we definitely will try next time!

You gotta walk uphill for a few min but what awaits you is a sleek hotel and the beautiful ocean view makes the hike totally worth it. You can see the illuminated castle at night and the town of Atami.
Great staff and very clean facility. About 17min walk to the beach. A lot of dining options are about 10 min away.

Staffs spoke fluent English and are super communicative. Overall great experience, scenery of the onsen is amazing. Just want to highlight though, when we used the shuttle bus to arrive at the Gora Station, bus driver didn’t really help to carry the luggages down which is fine, just feels a bit weird to see the contrast before and after leaving the hotel. Overall, hospitality 9.5/10.

We had a long travel day the day prior so having our own private onsen to relax in along with the traditional meals was a lovely way to start our tour of this beautiful country.
