"The property and the staff were excellent. However, the only complaint I have is the lack of pre-check in information. We did not know where the shuttle bus was located for pick up, or which train station the shuttle was at (or the pick up schedule). After missing the shuttle, we ended up using a taxi, which was quite expensive, rather than wait for two hours for the next bus. "

"It's a resort ryokan hotel with excellent view of the ocean. The "half-board" breakfasts and dinners were delicious and plentiful. The town of Atami is very hilly with very very steep roads that are not very walkable (and could be dangerous when wet), so be prepared to use a taxi or a rental car to go practically anywhere."

"The most memorable experience. A stay at a Japanese ryokan is the ultimate Japanese experience, it’s not cheap, but this inn is worth every penny. You are treated as part of the family from the moment you check in. The included dinner and breakfast are exquisite, a feast for the eye and culinary journey. This ryokan has larger rooms than the other ryokan I have been, and I love the private onsen option if you are not ready for the public Japanese onsen experience. The only complaint is that...

"Staff were very kind and respectful. Room was clean and spacious. Room had a gorgeous view of the river and trees. We enjoyed the very authentic traditional Japanese food served at breakfast and dinner. The public onsen is fantastic and the area also includes a sauna and a cold plunge. Be aware that guests with large tattoos are not permitted. Would not recommend the Japanese traditional room for guests over 5’8ft as the doorways are very low. My boyfriend had hit his head numerous times....

"This hotel is located right on the water and we loved the ocean views, and (when we opened the window) the sound of the waves breaking. Very peaceful and beautiful. The onsen baths were large and pleasantly hot, with water that was clear and gave a nice feeling. "
