Hakone Airu was a wonderful stay that will form part of our unforgettable trip to Japan. At first, I was hesitant to book this hotel because of the limited number of reviews. In the end, I took a chance and went a "Superior Room" with in-room bath. To be honest, not sure what the difference is between the different room types. Such a room with dinner & breakfast seemed to cost a lot more at other hotels. Not sure what else you get in other places; but I'm sure it can't get much better than...

Amazing dinner in the hotel restaurant. The Wagyu beef was melt in your mouth fantastic. Great wine. The private onsen was perfect and so relaxing at the end of the night. Super comfortable bed and spacious room. Wish I had booked two nights. My only complaint is the coffee in the room is more espresso style and I love a big hearty cup of coffee in the morning. The hotel doesn’t offer coffee in the lobby which is a bummer. We didn’t add breakfast just because we don’t usually do breakfast....

After the day being slightly hazy and enough so that we could not view Mt Fuji anywhere we were delighted to find on waking up and opening our HUGE picture window that overlooked the lake, FUGI-SAN! right there in full view perfectly clear as the view from our room. Wonderful Hotel shuttle direct to Odawara station used to leave... If I had known that beforehand we would have also taken it from station to hotel. But we used the transport from our "Hakone free pass" which took alot longer....

Hakone Suisen provided the best service I expected. The staff were really kind and friendly, the facility was clean and nice, onsen(both inside and outside) were great, and they even provided simple breakfast! Onsen is not big as normally depicted in Japanese media(movie/drama) but the water source is outstanding. Unfortunately, it is difficult to access other restaurants/cafe from the location by public transport, so I HIGHLY recommend you to enjoy your dinner at somewhere else before...

This place was amazing from the moment we arrived. Taking your shoes off upon arrival is a must (as it is in most Japanese Places). Our bags were carried up to our room and we were served green tea. We were told about the amenities and even walked down to the onsens available. We had a room with our own hot spring tub on the balcony which I recommend that you book. Always enjoy my stay at this property but was disappointed this time with breakfast. They no longer serve drinks to order instead a big thermos for coffee and tea were on the counter, of course taste was subpar. The manager saw my surprise at this and offered drinks to order but I believe this should be a minimum standard for a brand like Hyatt Regency. In my humble opinion, you don’t need curry in the morning buffet but you should offer quality coffee and tea to kick off the day pleasantly.

The hotel is very close by to the Hakone-Yumoto station. You can take a shuttle bus (only 100 yen) if you arrive at the station sooner than the hotel check in time of 2PM. Otherwise the hotel shuttle will do a complimentary pick up at the station from 2PM onward. We arrived to the hotel a bit early but one of the front desk staff trainees (who had been our point of contact throughout our entire stay) was so friendly and accommodating.
