We had a beautiful room with a walk-out to the quiet pool. The room was well appointed, fairly large and very comfortable. We had no issues getting cabana chairs by the pool because we are early birds. We appreciated that the chairs with shade were first come-first serve so no extra charge. The pool and beach service was super quick and we never found ourselves waiting too long. Overall, the beach is just ok. The view is beautiful but the shore is quite rocky and had so much seaweed we didn’t even attempt to get in to the ocean. The pool was beautiful and impeccably well maintained. The pool activities were kept pretty quiet. In fact, we didn’t even realize they were happening across the pool. We would have preferred the pool to be a bit more lively. But, if you’re looking for quiet relaxation, this is the place for you! There wasn’t food service offered at the pool but we went in to the buffet which is near the main pool and grabbed a snack if we needed it and brought it out to the pool. The buffet and restaurants were all fantastic! We loved the crepe station at breakfast. Our favorite restaurants were the French and Mexican. The Italian was also good and we felt Ember was just ok. But, every person we talked to had a favorite restaurant. There wasn’t any bad options. It is just a matter of personal preference. We went to dinner around 6:30 every night and never once had to wait for a table. The evening shows in the theater were very well done and I would recommend!

The staff like no other Lobby Mirador "May" at the bar is the Best Monserrat and Danian makes the team amazing. The Food is the best . Went to the restaurants and the bufette hands down is better . Joia Paraíso falsely presents itself as a 5-star resort. In reality, it is barely a 3-star property, and that is being generous. The rooms were dirty, unsanitary, and filled with strong musty odors. The smell was so severe that we were forced to demand a room change. Even after relocation, the replacement room was still not properly cleaned, clearly indicating systemic housekeeping failures. Room service was unacceptably slow, and nearly every request was met with attempts to charge additional fees. When these issues were escalated, management displayed complete indifference, responding with rigid policies instead of solutions. There was zero hospitality mindset. On Christmas Eve, we requested a specific dining time and were deliberately pushed to a late seating. A server explicitly stated this was because we booked through Expedia, confirming discriminatory treatment based on booking source. This is not only unprofessional—it is unacceptable. Despite the resort having fewer than 300 guests, staff aggressively controlled seating areas and restricted where guests were allowed to sit, creating an unwelcoming and hostile environment. The resort was slow, yet operated with arrogance instead of service. The food quality was low-grade and unsafe. Multiple members of our group suffered gastrointestinal illness, requiring a visit to the on-site clinic. Being charged for medical care resulting from food served by the resort is unacceptable. Great beach. Service is excellent everywhere on the property. Food was better than before and it was good before too. The buffets and restaurants had excellent selections. Rooms cleaned regularly. Nothing bad to say.
