The Fujiya Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Beautiful hotel in a beautiful area!"

Hotel de Yama, Hakone Lake Side

10/10 Excellent

"A lovely hotel with amazing view of the lake and Mount Fuji! Yes it is a bit old and wooden (think modern hotels 20-30 years ago!) but that is part of the charm and the staff and location makes up for it. Can walk to the centre around the lake and great location for the sights and pirate ship for the Hakone freepass route. We went half board which I recommend as it is great food - fine dining like - and they have choice of French or Japanese. And there's not lots open at night to eat out. Breakfast got busy and they didn't seem to be able to cope but only a minor thing - otherwise great"

Susukinohara Ichinoyu

10/10 Excellent

"Nice hotel, room is small, not as big as it looks in the photos, the toilet area is tiny. Beds were big and comfortable though, we had the twin room, very quiet in the evening. We were on HB, breakfast and dinner were lovely, plenty of food, tasty. Private in-room hot spring was really good for us, as we were conscious about using the public one. The location is little bit out of the main towns but I would stay here again."

Hakone Kowakien

10/10 Excellent

"The Onsen (hot spring facilities) was fantastic, especially after a long journey. Breakfast and dinner buffet were excellent. Mostly Japanese food but there are a few choices for those who don't like Japanese food. For me, the meals were great. Sushi, Sashimi, lots of different choices. A true test of Japan. Never had the same thing twice as there were too many choices. Not to mention they had beer, sake and some other alcohols available as part of the buffet. Didn't see anyone abusing the access which is good. The only thing to mention is if you are traveling from Tokyo and are returning there, it would be good to only take a smaller portion of your belongings (send your larger cases to your next hotel) as the rooms are not equipped with closets or drawers so you will be living out of your suitcase. Really wasn't a problem with our two large suitcases. Nice walking path in the back of the facility. Strongly recommend taking a taxi or uber from the train station with your suitcases. We road the bus there which was standing room only along a a very twisty mountain road, OVERALL - WONDERFULL"

Hakone Shichifukuso

10/10 Excellent

"A beautiful and serene place to stay. This is a relaxed town, which means that things shut down. So, load up on snacks for the room. The onsen experience was new to us but relaxing. Also, the man at check in has to be the hardest working and most accommodating person I’ve ever met. Highly communicative via WhatsApp. Would drop everything to drive us back and forth to town."

Rakuten STAY VILLA Hakone Togendai

10/10 Excellent

"This was the best place we stayed after visiting three different areas. There was plenty of space for our whole family and upgrade features were nice. The hot tub/cold plunge area was amazing and I can't say enough good things. This location is a bit remote, so we struggled to get larger ride shares, but there was plenty of room for us and luggage on an early morning bus ride. Restaurants close early and there is no konbini nearby. Perfect location for the Hakone Loop."
