The Flatiron Building seen through emerging spring foliage and blossoms in Madison Square Park, New York. The triangular-shaped building, designed by Daniel Burnham, one of the early masters of skyscraper form, was the subject of some controversy when it was finished in 1902. Many people expected that its thin edge and height would cause it to topple over. As you can see, it has remained upright for 113 years.

This is a prime Time Square location. It's an old, noisy hotel but has so much character and the wine happy hour is great. Rooms are good size too! The included breakfast is grab-and-go, but it's great.
