The NEST at Nishiki is both a new and an exceptional property. The rooms were spotless and functional, the staff was extremely attentive, and the location was just perfect--steps from the Nishiki Market and the Gion district. Yet the single most outstanding feature of the NEST at Nishiki is its manager, Ms. Chie Nakamura. She is professional, knowledgeable, a top-notch hotelier, and a wonderful person. I cannot say enough good things about the Hotel Okura Kyoto Okazaki Bettei. First, it was luxurious, new, clean, well staffed and convenient to all of Kyoto sightseeing. Second, the intimate luxury accomodations were neither too small or too large. We got to know all personnel by name. Management was very chill and accommodated our every request. Third, our room's amenities were top notch and no detail was overlooked. We particularly enjoyed the confortable bedding and oversized TV with Netflix...

The spa suite at Hotel Gion Ichirin is such a dream. We loved our room and private spa amenities so much, we barely wanted to leave the hotel. It was walking distance to restaurants, shopping and attractions like Yasaka Shrine. The staff was kind and it felt like we were the only guests there because it was so quiet and we didn’t bump into other guests. It was convenient they had a free washer/dryer machine and I loved getting the matcha latte from the coffee machine in the lobby.

I had a great stay at THE GATE Hotel in Kyoto! The property is modern, clean, and well-maintained. One of the highlights is definitely the top floor, where the reception and bar are located—it offers a stunning panoramic view of the city, especially at sunset. The location is super convenient, just a short walk from the train station and close to several local attractions, which made it easy to explore Kyoto. Overall, a comfortable and stylish place to stay. I’d definitely come back!

The Boston Hotel is literally steps just outside the JR Kusatsu train station. If traveling by train, the convenience really can't be beat. The room was very clean and well maintained, though small as with many Japanese rooms. Only 2 people can fit so we had 2 rooms for a family of 4 and it worked great. There were slippers and a sleeping gown to freely use and the selection of toiletries was surprisingly robust. The service was exceptional as we had no trouble speaking with the lobby...
