「This property was as expected from the listing. It is about 40 minutes from Hilo, the last 5 miles from the house consists of literally a roller coaster of a road (paved and fun) but the last mile to the house is not far from rock climbing (5mph tops, suv required, no cars) The property is largely unkept, but the inside of the house is well taken care of and includes most of what you'd need. Power is not an issue, despite what previous reviewers said, apparently the house runs on solar during...

「It is charming in a rustic way. It was smaller than we thought and the only heat in the living room and kitchen was a wood burning stove so we spent a lot of time and energy trying to stay warm. The first 2 days there was no live TV but a new spectrum box was brought in. Theresa, the property manager was very accommodating.」

「Staying at the lava temple was truly a spiritual and unique experience. We fell asleep to the sounds of nature and woke up to a beautiful sun rise over the lava fields. Couldn’t recommend more for a get away!」

Geckos were so entertaining to watch running all over and coquis lulled us to sleep at night. One thing to note: be sure to grab some bug spray, the skeeters are vicious out on the lanai!
