Aloha Crater Lodge

Aloha Crater Lodge

10/10 Excellent
"Shannon, the property owner, was so kind and generous to us. She offered to let us use a kitchen in another room so we could cook, and she let us know when the volcano was poppin. She also held on to a long-sleeve shirt, a pair of shorts, underwear, and a T-shirt that my husband left behind, haha. The lodge is funky and eclectic, which was perfect for us because it's unique and interesting! For example, in one of our rooms there was a fish pond! Just an FYI: the upstairs honeymoon suite does not have a shower, but it does have a jetted tub. We moved to the pond room for the rest of our stay because we wanted a shower. The location is 5 minutes from the park entrance, and each room has dedicated parking. Breakfast is not cooked for you, but the rooms are stocked with kona coffee, some slices of banana bread, oatmeal, ramen packets, etc."

"The owners (different than the host) are the best! They made sure that we have everything we need to make our stay comfortable and stress-free as our house in Ka’u was damaged by Hurricane Lala. The Nene Room was beautiful, clean and peaceful with its large picture window overlooking the serene forest. We also stayed in Gecko room that has one bedroom, living room, and kitchen. The Gecko room is comfortable and perfect for family and longer stays. The surrounding is quiet and close to stores, restaurants, and very close proximity to Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park."

Volcano Acres Ranch B&B

Volcano Acres Ranch B&B

10/10 Excellent
"Staying at Volcano Acres was truly one of the most special parts of my Big Island trip. The peaceful pond, adorable animals, and beautiful surroundings made it feel like a little sanctuary. Inside, every detail showed so much thought and care: the comfortable cotton sheets, cozy robe, delicious coffee, helpful notebook, and all the little touches that made the room feel warm and welcoming. The breakfast was exceptional: fresh, high-quality, and beautifully prepared. I especially loved the wonderful fresh papaya Evie prepared. You could feel the care that went into everything. But what made this stay unforgettable was Theresa. She is the kind of person who puts her whole heart into what she does, and I could genuinely feel her kindness and caring throughout my stay. I feel lucky not only to have stayed here, but to have met her and had the chance to have a meaningful conversation with her. This is much more than a beautiful place to stay. It has heart, and that is something you don’t find everywhere. I left feeling genuinely grateful that I chose this place. ❤️🌿"

"This was by far the best stay I had on my entire trip! Tucked away in the cutest little village, this perfect gem has all the charm and feel of the island. You can truly see the care put into every detail of the interior, making the entire stay feel warm, authentic, and inviting. My favorite part was hearing the frogs at night. I opened the windows, listened to the sounds of the island, and had one of the most peaceful nights of sleep on the entire trip. I will definitely be back! If you’re visiting Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park, I highly recommend staying at this charming little Chalet Kilauea. You won’t be disappointed!"

"What a fun and unforgettable place to stay! This charming treehouse cottage tucked away in the lush jungle of Hawaii was such a unique experience. If you’re looking for something different from a typical hotel or resort, this is definitely the place! The cottage had such a cozy, adventurous feel, and being surrounded by the sounds and beauty of the jungle made it feel like we had escaped into our own little tropical world. It was also a great location for exploring the volcanoes and everything the area has to offer. There’s something really special about waking up surrounded by greenery, enjoying the peacefulness of the jungle, birds singing, and knowing you’re staying somewhere you’ll actually remember, not just another vacation rental. We loved the character and charm of this little treehouse! VERY well done cottage."
