"Staff was helpful and friendly. You have to get up early to reserve beach chairs in the shade. Easy access from beach to pool and rooms. It is hard to make reservations at the restaurants (chianti and umami) even if you get up at 7am. You can only reserve for day of and next day, cannot book ahead. We were in this hotel for 2 weeks, which gave us 2 umami and 4 chianti allowable dinners and were only able to schedule 3 of our 6 allowable reservations. Umami is especially difficult to get into. The main restaurant, balam, changes meals daily so it isn't always the same food which is nice. The lobby does have timeshare salesman, but they were nice, we just had to avoid eye contact. Beware the local mall. It will bankrupt you. Overall, we were very happy with our vacation. "

"Room was clean- a bit dated but very clean. Property could use some maintenance but it was minor. I highly recommend this resort if travelling with children. They do have to do something to get the situation with Chair reserving under control. People would reserve every chair and then have no one there for hours(sometimes over 5 hours) Others could be using these but they have no system to monitor it. This definately impacted our enjoyment some days "

"The ocean front villas were worth it! Ocean right outside your room, butler service and a great room. Jessica, our butler, was phenomenal, as was Alejandro from the Italian restaurant. The pool location was great and everything is well laid out and beautiful! The seafood was great here. I wish there was more authentic Mexican food choices overall however I’m thinking there was standard fare within the Royal group?"

"We had a disappointing experience at this hotel. The staff at the restaurants were rude and unwelcoming, which really affected our stay. We had to wait in a very long line just to make a reservation, and even then, our family of 14 couldn’t be seated together—we were split up across different tables, which was frustrating. The buffet employees were kind and helpful, and that was one of the few positives. However, the restaurant staff overall had poor attitudes and lacked good customer service. At the pool, there were no waiters coming around to take drink orders, so we constantly had to go to the bar ourselves. Overall, we expected much better service and organization for a hotel like this."

"Loved this hotel very much! The size of hotel and size of beach is just prefect. Restaurants offering is fantastic and easy to get table - loved the no reservation system - first come first serve. It would have been a perfect 5 star rating had the hotel staff not lied to me about maintaining the AC at 21C; anything lower is a pretense. Then they send maintenance to fix, requested twice and still no change; wish they just told me that they fixed the temperature and I’d have known and planned; didn’t sleep well at night as got very warm. Also, while they had a Vegetarian menu, they did not have any vegetarian beans (crazy) - all made with lard; was challenging at times to have this discussion constantly to know what I was getting and what it was fried in. Better effort needed for a vegetarian."

"We really enjoyed staying in the Condo that was part of a resort. I feel like we got the best of both worlds. We had the space of a condo (including a separate sleeping area/bedroom, living space, dining table and kitchenette) with some of the perks of a resort (you can pay a daily resort fee and have some of the advantages of being at a resort) - like access to the property’s pools - and most importantly access to the beautiful beach right on the Caribbean! I don’t think all rooms feature this, but our room happened to have a terrace with a hot tub and 2 lounge chairs for getting some extra sun. The property is also very conveniently located to a shopping area that is just across the street which has restaurants to accomodate a variety of tastes and budgets, as well as a wide range of stores to shop at. Our hosts were quick to respond with any questions we had. We really enjoyed our stay at the Condo! "

"This was truly the BEST experience ever. My friends and I consistently shared our happiness in picking this resort. The food was SO good, even with a picky eater, we all found food at every place we enjoyed. Asian restaurant stole our heart, and that poolside taco, omg. But genuinely, no bad place. Estabhan, Pedro, Christian, and Chocolate were the best. They made our experience! They are so engaging, positive, silly, and just fun! Yoga with Ivan is a must, never felt such inspiration to be my authentic best self. Bartender Ricardo and Server Luis are also awesome people. The staff was amazing. The activities were so fun(Yoga, Aqua Aerobics, Silent Disco, Magic, Olympic games... the list keeps going). I celebrated my birthday there and could not have been happier. I would say it is a family-friendly resort where college students can still enjoy themselves, and it is a community!! You get to know those around you, and it makes it even more a welcoming homelike feeling. Never felt unsafe there as well, which I appreciate!"
