Excellent service. Not only was the stay memorable for us but the hotel staff exceeded expectations. When Uber blew it on a timed taxi hailing, they shuttled us up to the station to make our train - off schedule. Great service!
The buffet is also awesome and rooms are so sweet! Views are excellent and the location is at the heart of the beachfront. Pretty great spot to experience Atami.

Beautiful property - absolutely breathtaking from the moment you arrive. The staff were super nice and helpful. David who works at the tea bar is also lovely. Amenities are great here and the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. We never wanted to leave. We got the forest room and it was so nice to wake up to. The public bath was also super clean and nice. Our skin felt great afterwards. Would highly recommend the dinner and breakfast there also. It was a big meal but so delicious.

Easily one of the best hotels I've every stayed at. The staff is courteous, helpful, and very professional. Despite its age, the hotel does not feel old or worn out - I was pleasantly surprised by how well maintained, clean, and neat everything was. The rooms were generously spacious, offered an amazing view of Mt. Fuji in the early morning, and a wonderful view of the bay at night. You gotta walk uphill for a few min but what awaits you is a sleek hotel and the beautiful ocean view makes the hike totally worth it. You can see the illuminated castle at night and the town of Atami.
Great staff and very clean facility. About 17min walk to the beach. A lot of dining options are about 10 min away.

Hakone Suisen provided the best service I expected. The staff were really kind and friendly, the facility was clean and nice, onsen(both inside and outside) were great, and they even provided simple breakfast!
Onsen is not big as normally depicted in Japanese media(movie/drama) but the water source is outstanding.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to access other restaurants/cafe from the location by public transport, so I HIGHLY recommend you to enjoy your dinner at somewhere else before...

Hakone Airu was a wonderful stay that will form part of our unforgettable trip to Japan. At first, I was hesitant to book this hotel because of the limited number of reviews. In the end, I took a chance and went a "Superior Room" with in-room bath. To be honest, not sure what the difference is between the different room types. Such a room with dinner & breakfast seemed to cost a lot more at other hotels. Not sure what else you get in other places; but I'm sure it can't get much better than...

I love the hotel. Tsukino is an interesting and successful synthesis of traditional ryokan atmosphere with modern facilities. While my room comes with TV, fridge, western-style couch, a king sized bed, and a modern bathroom, the rest of the decoration is Japanese in style. The room also comes with a tube in the balcony. The balcony faces a very steep hill with dense foliage around 40 feet away. Thus I was able to take my baths in open air with ensured privacy. The 6th floor of the hotel...

What a gem! We stayed at Ishinoya after our 4 days of non-stop walking and touring Tokyo and before another 3 manic days of touring Kyoto. It was such a needed reprieve! I wish we could have stayed one more night before heading home.
We booked the room with a private tub, but I tried the public bath very early one morning when it was empty. It was just pure bliss!
You do have to reserve dinner/breakfast in advanced. We're lucky there was one spot left for breakfast. I would have wanted to do...

Very approachable for a more cultural, traditional experience. Was very easy for an American foreigner like myself to have a truly authentic experience. Staff is incredibly hospitable, helpful, patient, and capable. My first ryokan experience that I have Yusakaso to thank. Quality onsens, extraordinarily clean.

Tsubaki offers the real deal, with time-honored hospitality that is understated. The serene landscape holds the inn, the inn the healing waters and the waters your grateful body.
