"Pros: location - 5 min walk to beach. Able to accommodate our family of 5 (stayed in apartment) - full kitchen with stove, toaster, coffee maker, microwave; dining table with 6 chairs; sofas; 2 TVs Hotel provided folding beach chairs, umbrellas for beach for no charge - we loved this. Cute 50s vintage feel - pool/courtyard Staff addressed 2 concerns we had immediately AC was nice and one of the units helped drown out car sounds. Across the street from a pretty park We walked on the front walking/biking trail parallel to beach for about a mile for restaurants - very pleasant walk. Cons: Sits between 2 1-way streets - so need to cross at crosswalk or wait for cars to clear to walk to beach. No beach view. Street sounds. 2 stars - don’t expect luxury; state of bathroom has mismatched tiles, some chipping paint around edges of windows. Not enough towel racks or hooks to hang toiletry bags and towels/swimsuits. They could have fit at least queen sized beds, maybe king, but instead they are full sized. Some people seem to rent rooms full time - smoking in courtyard. Had to step into street from apartment to go around the end car of parking lot to get to office - felt unsafe. "

"We recently stayed at the Grand Beach Hotel Surfside and unfortunately, our experience was disappointing overall. While the lobby makes a nice first impression, that’s where the positives mostly ended. The staff was not welcoming or friendly, and service throughout the stay felt lacking. For example, at the rooftop pool, there was no staff offering drinks or checking on guests, which you would expect at a hotel at this price point. Dining was also underwhelming—there is only one restaurant, and the menu does not change, which quickly becomes repetitive during a stay. The atmosphere was not what we expected. The hotel was very noisy and filled with children, making it feel less like a relaxing getaway and more like a crowded family resort. On top of that, housekeeping began vacuuming loudly around 8:00 AM, which made it difficult to sleep in. One of the most concerning issues was a late-night disturbance around 1:30 AM, where there was loud fighting and screaming that went on for at least 30 minutes. We attempted to call both the front desk and bell stand multiple times, and no one answered, which was extremely unsettling. We were close to calling the police ourselves before the situation finally quieted down. As for the room, it was just okay. There were rust stains in the bathroom, and the sofa in the sitting area was uncomfortable—more like a futon than proper hotel furniture. Additionally, the air conditioning unit was so loud & patio small."

"The elevators didn’t work. The Ac in the room was so loud, we weren’t able to sleep. We booked a room with 2 double beds and they gave us 1 bed. We requested late checkout and the didn’t note it down and sent security to our room at 11:50 as we were heading out. Lady at the front desk was extremely rude rolling her eyes and said “we’re not trying to rush you out”. By far the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. "

"Absolutely would stay here again! Staff was so helpful, kind, and friendly. The breakfast was always clean, the pool area is well maintained and relaxing. Both food & drink menus were thoughtful and well made. A true hidden gem right along Collins Ave! "
