Old Hall Hotel

Old Hall Hotel

8/10 Good
"We had booked a twin room as we were attending an event at Buxton Opera House which is literally across the road. The room was clean and tidy. We had a bathroom with bath and shower over bath. The hotel is very old and it’s showing signs of that in certain places. However it is being refurbished slowly I understand having been taken over by Champneys who own the Crescent Hotel which is next door. The breakfast was a good choice and tea and coffee were served promptly. We parked right outside which cost £6 for 24 hours. This enabled us to have a little bit of retail therapy after breakfast and before we left. I had read some horrendous reviews before I booked but knowing the area and thought I would make my own mind up about it. Everything was good given the age of the hotel and much better than using the clinical type hotels like Premier Inns. It’s full of character and history concerning Mary Queen of Scotts. Try it and make your own mind up."

DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke on Trent

DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke on Trent

8/10 Good
"Great staff at check in, pool/gym area and restaurant. Pool area could use a little TLC, the gym equipment could do with an update and the changing rooms could do without multiple towels on the floor to create a non-slip walkway as they were filthy. Food in restaurant was nice, but the soup was barely lukewarm. Bedrooms are well maintained, but mattresses are very firm. Shower was excellent. Reduced parking rate for guests at £7.50."

"Staff, great, breakfast was nice and value for money. The place needs some TLC but this is reflected in the price. Would I stay here again? Yes I would."

Hilton Garden Inn Stoke on Trent

Hilton Garden Inn Stoke on Trent

8/10 Good
"Stayed for 2 nights. Staff, cleanliness and location were good. However checked in, sink was blocked and ceiling was damaged, which was annoying as it kept you looking at it over and over. Come on Hilton, a touch up of paint isn’t not that difficult to apply. Will only take a couple of minutes. I felt like doing it myself. Picture attached. Room 210."
