This hotel was the best out of the hotels we stayed at on our two week trip (3 hotels total). If you’re looking for a great hotel in Kyoto it’s this hotel. Room was clean and beautiful. Bed was excellent (all other beds we slept on were hard and bad). Bathroom was great! Close to the subway and bus stop (use the bus - super easy, fast and clean). Next door to convenience store (very helpful). Blocks from Kyoto station (also very helpful). One block from a beautiful shrine. Coin-op laundromat...

The Oriental Hotel was very comfortable and attractive with lovely views of the bay or mountains. The staff were extremely helpful, pleasant and overall very charming. Staying here was very pleasant. After checking in, we reserved one of the private baths (Reservations are for 45 minutes, and one reservation can be made at a time,) and headed down to the town to walk around. The walk from the hotel to the station at the bottom/central area of town is about ten or fifteen minutes. Everything about our short stay was lovely. The town was very quiet while we were there - our stay was primarily to visit the castle ruins (which we recommend!). Very charming town. The inn was very relaxing and we enjoyed the on-site onsen, and the excellent Japanese breakfast. The room was WONDERFUL. Everything about this experience was top notch. From the staff (friendly and so very helpful) to the room (simply beautiful with amazing amenities) to the superb breakfast. Very pricey so definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

Loved this property and onsen! After spending the last two weeks walking all over Tokyo this was a wonderful way to relax! Part of the onsen is outside and overlooks the water. The harbor and Chinatown make it a great area to explore.

Our stay at the Negiya Ryofukaku was nothing short of excellent. The staff were very professional and polite, accommodating both our very limited Japanese language skills and our request for a larger yukata (I'm apparently taller than the average guest). They do have english-speakers on staff, and the guide who walked us through the hotel's facilities and amenities was kind enough to explain everything in both Japanese and English, as we were trying to learn as much of the former and speak as...

This is an excellent, upscale property that really takes good care of guests. The room we stayed in was very large, especially compared to normal Japanese hotels. The hot spring is well maintained, and the dinner was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

Unbelievable experience!!! Really hope to visit soon. The hospitality the staff the food everything surpassed our expections. Exceptional and wonderful experience!

Pros: Super friendly staff, really nice area, easy access to the train station, movies on-demand are free, free wifi. Cons: For Club Rooms, the mini-bar should be free of charge. I will definitely come back!
