"Palmaïa is one of the best hotels we’ve ever stayed at, if not the best. But it’s not just a hotel - it’s a beautifully thought-out, truly unique wellness experience. The design and aesthetics are stunning, with incredible attention to detail and natural, high-quality materials throughout. What makes Palmaïa really stand out is that it’s built into the jungle and integrated into nature, unlike so many resorts that flattened the jungle and built a concrete one in its place. The reward for that approach is the thriving wildlife - we saw coatis, agoutis, spider monkeys, raccoons, butterflies, countless birds, and lizards everywhere. Food was absolutely amazing. We’re not vegan or vegetarian, but loved the concept and all the options. It really makes you more open-minded, and if you want meat, fish or cheese, that’s easily accommodated too. Special mentions: the Palmaïa burger at Su Casa (!), charred broccoli and prawns at LEK, and the delicious snacks at Plantissa. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely caring - nothing was ever a problem. The all-inclusive is actually truly ALL inclusive, which is rare these days: room service, beach service, taco van, drinks, wellness classes, workouts - everything. Spa is extra, but absolutely worth it, especially as treatments include access to the private cenote and Mayan steam bath. The beach is beautiful and genuinely great for swimming. Yes, Riviera Maya has seaweed (we visited in May), but staff worked constantly to clear it"

"This is the third time I’ve stayed at a Riu property, and my first time at the Riu Tequila. The hotel is great, and the staff are wonderful; however, I do feel that the rooms are in need of an update. The food and drinks are good, and the hotel is always very lively. Next time, I’d like to stay at the Riu Palace."

"Fairly compact, well maintained property on a beautiful stretch of beach. Everything was pretty much as expected: quiet vibes with fairly limited nightly entertainment, good service, small but serviceable buffet, and more. This resort would certainly deserve a 4 star review, but unfortunately I settled on 3 for one main reason, the AC. We stayed 8 nights and were not able to get 1 good night of sleep with temperatures in the room, despite the AC on max all the time, not hovering around 23 degrees (73 plus degrees). We are not AC lovers, but the room was just 1 or 2 degrees above our comfort level. Some of these issues extended beyond our room. The Sports Bar, for example, was basically impracticable for more than a few minutes. I do not know if this is the norm or the luck of the draw, but unfortunately, when one of the things we appreciate of these vacations is the ability to get some relax and sleep in, this experience may put us in a situation where we would not consider returning. "On the first day we had an issue with our rooms air conditioning and only luke warm water for the shower. It took a little bit to convince them to change our room. But once we got into our new room which was even better cause of the location it was in we were fine. The food was good. One main restaurant with a buffet had a different theme every night. For me i prefer at least one restaurant have a variety of food every night. I would go there again."
