Hakone Airu

10/10 Excellent

"We loved our stay at Hakone Airu. It was about ten minutes walking from the train station (hill at the end a little steep with backpacks) though we didn’t have our biggest luggage with us as we used a forwarding service to Kyoto. The hotel had lovely private hot springs for use downstairs but we also opted for private hot spring in our room that I was sad to leave. Staff were attentive and the drinks readable priced at the bar. Had a really nice peach yuzu there! Food was very traditionally Japanese which forced me to try things outside of my comfort zone and I loved that as an experience! I learnt to like things that I wouldn’t have tried otherwise. We stayed here in January 2026 to celebrate our 10th anniversary together and it will hold such a special place in my heart as we got engaged here also xx"

"We stayed for two nights and had absolutely wonderful meals! The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. In our experience no noise or light at night. The private bath on the balcony was amazing and private with a beautiful view of the hills, river, and surrounding city. The staff was incredibly helpful with figuring out our next travel plans and luggage storage because of the typhoon passing through. There was some language issues but they were extremely capable at navigating and some spoke a good deal of english. Highly recommend for a relaxing experience. The location was an easy 30 minute commute from different vistas and museums in the Hakone region."

"The hotel is absolutely wonderful for location, value and amenities. The room was very comfortable and quiet. The onsen was great. The foot bath seemed a little crowded and had kids playing in it like it was a pool so that wasn't very relaxing. The onsen was excellent though. It should be more clearly noted with check-in materials that the front desk is on the 4th floor. I wasted about 15 minutes looking everywhere for it. LoL I would certainly return here. Especially now that I know where the check-in desk is"

"The staff is excellent and helpful. The location is convenient to get to Hakone loop. The dinner in Cascade restaurant is excellent, 5 star delicious. The scenery surrounding the hotel is also very beautiful. Most impressive is the staff's outstanding service. It's almost like you are their life line."
