"The location of this hotel was amazing. Walking distance to a lot of the things we wanted to see and close to a lot of great restaurant options. The room was big but also quite stuffy and had an unpleasant smell when we arrived. It was a lot better after we aired it out but didn’t feel super clean. It’s still a good price especially for the location."

"Just an all round good property to stay at within the Gion district. Nothing fancy but location, room size and cleanliness met our expectations and a good value overall. Wouldn’t hesitate recommending this quaint hotel."

"We had an amazing stay at ZIzi in Gion area. It is a wonderful area to stay if you are visiting Kyoto! The staff was super helpful and even gave us an extra bed and set it up for a friend who came last minute.. The rooms are super clean and tidy, and the shampoo, conditioner and soap is really nice. The room was super spacious and the bathroom was so nice. I really enjoyed the shower."

The staff was amazing. Extremely kind and informative. The property itself was clean, comfortable and convenient for it’s location. Couldn’t of asked for a better place to stay.

This hotel is absolutely amazing. We learned it opened about a month ago. The staff were always friendly and helpful. The room was spacious for our family of 4 and was so very clean and the decor was inviting. The bathroom is just as amazing. It was large with a sauna and a separate glassed room with a shower and tub. The hotel offers free coffee, lattes etc at all times with a state of the art machine in the lobby. Breakfast is offered for free every morning. The hotel is in an amazing...

The spa suite at Hotel Gion Ichirin is such a dream. We loved our room and private spa amenities so much, we barely wanted to leave the hotel. It was walking distance to restaurants, shopping and attractions like Yasaka Shrine. The staff was kind and it felt like we were the only guests there because it was so quiet and we didn’t bump into other guests. It was convenient they had a free washer/dryer machine and I loved getting the matcha latte from the coffee machine in the lobby.

Very large room by Japan standards, and incredibly clean, modern, and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The location is perfectly central in Gion while being just outside the area of nighttime noise. Perfect stay for the three of us with room to spare in one of their larger rooms.

This hotel is perfectly situated- it is an easy walk from the Sanjo station and it’s embedded within the ultra-beautiful Gion district. The hotel staff are English-fluent, ready-and-waiting to answer questions, give directions, and make recommendations. Our rooms (we had two and stayed for three nights) were aesthetically lovely and spotless. Our shower was pristine and modern, though I regretted not booking a room with a soaking tub. Breakfast was in keeping with our overall experience:...

An unforgettable traditional ryokan experience! Amazing location, extremely quiet, ultra relaxing, environment to completely unwind. The staff is incredible, the food is delectable, and the tea ceremony (do not skip) is a magical and unforgettable experience. You’re sleeping on a futon on tatami floors in a 157 year old building in historic Kyoto, just as they’ve done for 1,200 years. A wonderful way to spend a night or two during your visit!
