Unfortunately not too walkable to locations we were interested (Edinburgh Castle is about a 20-25 min walk, and if you want to walk the Royal Mile, it's past that), but not a terrible inconvenience, just something to keep in mind if you'd like a hotel close to those locations. "CODE was a great deal in the center of Edinburgh. The sightseeing was within walking distance. I had my doubts about sharing the room with ten other people, but it went well. My room had both men and women, but it worked out. The bed allowed some privacy, and one could charge the cell phone from the personal USB outlet. The bathrooms were shared and clean (men and women had separate bathrooms). The hostel has a nice lobby where you can get breakfast, drinks, and various good whiskies. The staff was friendly. Since I was there just to sleep, it was a fantastic deal. I stayed for five nights for the price of one night in an area hotel. "
