The facilities were great and the building was impressive. The best aspect of our experience was the staff and their friendly manner throughout our stay.

We had an incredible time at Live Aqua. Our room was spacious, and we appreciated the larger balcony area. The dining options were enjoyable, and the 24-hour room service was convenient. However, we were disappointed that we could not visit the specialty restaurant MB due to a special event taking place that evening, which prevented us from entering or being placed on the waiting list. It would be helpful for the front desk to inform guests of special events at restaurants ahead of time so you can plan accordingly. We ended up dinning at Carnivore, which was good but we were really looking forward to dining at mb. Our concierge, Viridiana, took care of us and got us a discount at Carnivore for the inconvenience which was greatly appreciated. She did an excellent job taking care of our requests and answering all our questions. We would like to express our gratitude to Marcelo at Varenna, Eduardo at Hidden Garden, and Viridiana for going above and beyond to make our stay relaxing and memorable. One negative aspect to mention is the vacation club presentation. If you are not interested, it is best to decline it upfront. We found it to be a waste of time. If you're interested in siging up, I suggest you read the contract throughly before you sign. They make it sound like it's super easy to cancel the membership, however the language in the contract implies a firm term and there no cancelation rights in the contract.

Good location, big pool, nice ambiance

The property was beautiful and the best view ever. When we first checked in they promised us “Welcome Gift “ and we never received anything. The grill bar at the pool was always busy and you had to wait to long for food. The other thing was that if you have a baby in a stroller or if you are in a wheelchair that had no elevator from lobby to the restaurant or the pool. You have to go all the way around to get the elevator . Also if you do not tip the servers they treat you like trash.

Food: I don’t think we ate anything that we didn’t like (and man were we ever eating)! The 5 course meals at the restaurant made us feel fancy and it was a cool experience. The buffet had a great selection as well and had staff with different stations (omelette, smoothies, pasta, steaks). Food was a 100/10 Rooms: our room smelt like mildew the whole time and nothing ever actually dried in it, plus the mirrors had mold. I would stop noticing once I’d been in the room for a while, leaving the patio door open helped. Everything being constantly damp was not nice but the beds were comfy, the rain showers were nice and there’s lots of space for all your stuff. Rooms would be a 6/10 Other: pools & beach were amazing!! It was quick to get drinks and they have lots of activities going on. The entertainment staff were always giving their all and made our experience a lot more fun. They also have lots of companies for excursions at the resort. We had booked snorkelling and Tulum before leaving but next time we would just book while we were there. They also have a shuttle ($5USD) that takes you right to downtown playa. My only other note would be for more “please don’t feed the wildlife” signs. There’s lots of coatis and raccoons around and they were obviously well fed by tourists. I saw many people walking around with food and feeding them and I found myself having to explain the harm in this quite a few times. This isn’t the resorts fault obviously but more education would be good.

The staff were great, service was impeccable. Food, however, has gone downhill since Hyatt took it over which is very unfortunate. I feel it should have stayed its own company. We have recently stayed at Excellence brand and find that they have more control over their operations. One thing that was really disappointing is that you do not provide alcohol in the rooms anymore. We don’t drink beer and simply wanted a bottle of the Don Sylvestre Sauvignon blanc and that wasn’t possible; not high end “preferred club” service. Although our butler Hector was very nice and personable we found he did nothing for us. We will Definately be looking elsewhere on our next vacation we think.
