"The hotel, its amenities and staff are definitely 5 star quality. The standard rooms, however, are four star and the beach itself i would rate as maybe 3 stars. The beach amenities are outstanding with fresh fruit juice bars full service restaurant and bars, a pool and beautiful manicured areas. The beach is small, lots of coral and sand, unfortunately full of sargassum although this was not the fault of the hotel. It was well appointed with lounge chairs and umbrellas. The staff were courteous, and accommodating. Overall the stay was great and very relaxing. I was upset with two things. The standard rooms, especially the bathrooms are not up to a 5 star standard. Our first room was damp and the furniture looked rough. The bathroom tiles were broken, the tv was small, a 37 inch from 2015 and the shower did not work well. I requested a room change and the room was much better although they downgraded our pool view room to a garden view. The in room amenities are excellent with a de humidifier and steamer to remove wrinkles from packed clothes. My pet peeve was the resorts suggestion to get a better more updated room i would have to upgrade to premium whivj was 800 more. i would not have minded paying but l wanted that to be my choice and then could have widened my choices at rhe start to include the hyatt, riu or other 5 star hotel. By trying to force me to pay another 800 usd during check undermined the whole experience. "

"I’ve stayed at quite a few all inclusive resorts across various destinations in Mexico, this one was by far the best experience I’ve had Food was amazing our room was in good condition for a 10 year old property but the 2 main highlights for me were the location and the extremely helpful staff, regardless of room category or status level it seemed like all guests were treated the same. It’s a smaller resort so everything feels a little more personal and upscale, no reservations for dinner no towel cards for the pool just take as many as you need, room service arrives in 20-30 minutes and house keeping is very consistent. Special shoutout to Mel and Erik, best entertainers I’ve encountered at a resort.. Chepo and Miguel at the pool deck for keeping our drinks full all day and Santos at the Italian restaurant! Will be staying here again. "

"We stayed on the family side of the resort. The common areas of the hotel, rooms, and pool were all great. All was very clean, and family-friendly. The paths to the beach were easily accessible, and a very peaceful surrounding. Our only complaint was that the food wasnt as good as what we expected. It wasn't horrible, but just not as good as what we would have expected from a resort like this. Also, we added on the Family Concierge package. Some of the perks were nice to have & we did utilize some of them. However, im not sure if we would add it again if we revisited the resort."

"The pools were nice, but they close at 7 p.m. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful but it's showing its age The reason I probably won't go back is because the smell from the seaweed made me nauseous. It's too bad they aren't doing anything to clean up the coastline."

"Pools were immaculate and many options. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Room is awesome, housekeeping was perfect. Room service was ok. They forgot about one of our orders, but everything else came on time. The tacos are the way to go for room service snacks. "

"My stay at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort was very good, and this is my honest review. Please don’t let all the negative comments scare you away. I came here with my two teenage daughters, ages 12 and 14, and we had a great experience. Our room was perfect and located in a great area we stayed in Building 27, which made it easy to get to everything. The beach was beautiful. When we first arrived there was no sargassum, although some did come in one day, and the water was a bit murky for a few days because of the rain. We had no problem booking restaurants because when you book with Expedia, you get a concierge who books the restaurants for you. We tried them all, and our favorites were: • Riviera – Mediterranean • Fogo de Brasil – Rodizio • Lirios – Steakhouse • Templo – Japanese Every morning we had breakfast at the Mexican restaurant because it was quieter and had everything we needed. We ate lunch at the main buffet most days, and there were tons of options for everyone, so don’t let people tell you otherwise. We spent most of our time at the Tortuga pool because it was less busy than the main pool. It’s kind of hidden, so I think many people didn’t know about it. The grounds and wildlife were amazing. The resort does involve a lot of walking, so if that’s not your thing, this may not be the best hotel for you. But there were plenty of activities and things to do throughout the resort. I would recommend this resort for families with children."

"Food options were good for kids. Pools and activities very nice. Clean and well maintained. Only negative was hard to get a dinner reservation for better restaurants. Limited seats and members get preference. "
