I loved staying here and regret not spending more than one night and time on site. The staff was very responsive to my messages and even let us leave luggage there after check-out until 9pm. We absolutely loved our stay. Staff was so courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was great. We hope to be back! The area is so beautiful. Be sure to hike over to the waterfalls and hopefully see some wild monkeys.

One of the highlights of the trip. An absolute must if you want to stay in a traditional Ryokan. Location was an added bonus to the bamboo forest and monkey park. Staff was top notch!

Staying here was very pleasant. After checking in, we reserved one of the private baths (Reservations are for 45 minutes, and one reservation can be made at a time,) and headed down to the town to walk around. The walk from the hotel to the station at the bottom/central area of town is about ten or fifteen minutes. The hotel should give notice to guests at reservation how to take shuttle bus from either bus station or train station to the hotel as the hotel is on a hill.

Hotel Goshobo truly envelops you in the history and tradition of a Ryoukan. The staff are super serious about their presentation and very very friendly. A stay here even for a single night is highly recommended.

Rooms are beautiful and large

This was our first stay at a rhyokan (spelling!)and we were blown away by the beauty, The comfort (personally I felt sleeping on tatami mats on a futon perfect). The attentive service was welcoming and spot on. We ate breakfast and dinner here and the local food was abundant, gorgeously presented and flavorful. We had a room with a private Onsen on a deck. Highly recommend. This was a unique, peak experience and I am a seasoned traveler. Do it.

This was my first time staying at a ryokan. I had a wonderful time. The view was simply amazing. The dinner and breakfast meals were 10 out of 10 for presentation and taste. The baths were equally refreshing. The only thing I could critique is the bed was a little minimal compared to western beds I'm used to. I still got a great nights rest and would come back in a heartbeat.

Our stay at the Negiya Ryofukaku was nothing short of excellent. The staff were very professional and polite, accommodating both our very limited Japanese language skills and our request for a larger yukata (I'm apparently taller than the average guest). Loved this property and onsen! After spending the last two weeks walking all over Tokyo this was a wonderful way to relax! Part of the onsen is outside and overlooks the water. The harbor and Chinatown make it a great area to explore.

This is an excellent, upscale property that really takes good care of guests. The room we stayed in was very large, especially compared to normal Japanese hotels. The hot spring is well maintained, and the dinner was excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

The staff were beyond friendly and hospitable! My friend staying with me was having medical issues and we were immediately offered help/accommodations in any way possible. The bath has a fantastic view over Nara, the property is nestled amongst some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen, our room was very cozy, and the breakfast in the morning left us full and satisfied.
