"Great location, great Hotel"

"My experience with the reception staff member named Nell completely ruined the first impression of my stay at Hilton. I arrived early at the hotel and politely asked about early check-in as a Hilton Honors Gold member. Nell immediately denied my request, claiming my Gold status was “not showing,” even after I showed her my Honors number. Instead of trying to help, explain properly, or offer any courtesy, she responded with no smile, no apology, and a very cold attitude, repeatedly saying there was no availability. What made the situation even more upsetting was what happened afterward. I waited in the lobby for approximately two and a half hours, and during that time I watched many other guests arrive, check in, and receive their rooms while I continued waiting. The lobby was not overcrowded, and although the hotel was busy, it was obvious that rooms were becoming available for other guests. After more than two hours, Nell finally walked toward me with an angry expression and simply said, “Your room is ready, sir.” At that moment, I noticed the room key envelope clearly displayed “Honors,” which made the earlier refusal even more frustrating and confusing. I fully understand that early check-in depends on availability, and I would have accepted a polite explanation. What disappointed me was the lack of professionalism, empathy, and respect shown throughout the interaction. This experience left me feeling unwelcome and unfairly treated. "

"The Cumberland was a decent hotel overall. The bed was somewhat comfortable, you could feel its age and the underpinnings were lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathroom was clean but there were spots on the ceiling that raised some eyebrows. Gym was clean and well stocked. Reception was overall very helpful except for delays in housekeeping/maintenance arriving to solve a plumbing issue. Great value for money for London and the location for time of year."

"Great location for sure and the modern minimalist lobby is very nice. Rooms are simple but nice and bed was comfy. However cleanliness wasn't up to par. We found receipts on the floor from the previous guests and there were cigaret butts on the tiny terrace and the sink could have used a little wash down as well. Which means either they didn't clean it between guests or did a rush job. Which is also disappointing given that we had to pay 40 pounds to check in early because we arrived at noon and check I. Wasn't until 3. We would've just left our bags and gone exploring but it was 15 pounds per item so with 3 suitcases it was cheaper to pay to check in early. It's like they rush to get the rooms ready in order to do the upcharge for early check in thing. Probably also why check out is 10am (or you can pay to get a later check out). Not cool Zedwell ...not cool."

"Not enough lifts for the size of the hotel. At busy time"

"We recently stayed at the Mitre House Hotel and overall had a pleasant experience thanks to the excellent staff and location. Everyone we encountered at reception, the bar, and restaurant was friendly, welcoming, and very helpful throughout our stay. The hotel itself is charming and full of character, set in a historic building in a lovely Kensington neighborhood. It’s also very convenient for Paddington Station, only about a 5–6 minute walk away (though be careful to use the correct station exit). Our balcony overlooked a beautiful street, although signage recommended not to use it. The included breakfast was adequate with plenty of toast and tea, but it was fairly basic and not what I’d consider a full English breakfast (no sausages and only 1 bacon) The main downside was the layout of family rooms 101/102. The setup is awkward for families with younger children: two separate rooms with two different keys, and both doors spring shut automatically, making lockouts easy. The kids’ room has no bathroom, so bathroom access is either through the main bedroom or via a public hallway entrance, which isn’t ideal. The rooms are also very small, with limited outlets and storage. The bathroom was cramped, with a half shower curtain that easily floods the floor. Overall, the setup may work for families with older children, but I wouldn’t recommend it for younger kids. Also, the lift is very small and slow."

"Lovely hotel. Very clean and perfect location next to Marble Arch underground. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby and perfect for shopping on Oxford Street. Staff were lovely. Room was bright, spacious and very clean."
