"Got caught in the cartel chaos. The resort could not have been more accommodating and helpful. They extended our stay at a very reasonable rate. Extremely clean and well run property. Food was great and staff went above and beyond. Special thanks to Sandra in the Chipotle Buffet."

"I didn’t have high expectations for this resort as we had stayed in the area previously and were let down at a neighbouring resort but Valas was great! The rooms were clean, the food was probably the best we’ve had an all inclusive, the staff was great. Would recommend! "

"We enjoyed our stay at Occidental. The staff was very friendly and pool staff were energetic and fun. The evening entertainment was fantastic. This is a smaller resort and more appropriate for an older crowd vs kids but they do have a kids pool. The beach is amazing, you can walk for miles. We only ate in one specialty restaurant (twice) which was the Italian and the food was excellent. It was nice that they made personal omelets at the breakfast buffet. Didn't love the food at the buffet but there was lots of variety and fresh fruit/salad/baked good so I can't complain."

"Great staff, great food but we were given a very poor room , shower door would not close sink would not work air never stopped we were in a very old building which we heard is slated for demolition. They said we only paid for a standard room It was sub standard for a lot of money They did put us in a better room after two days"

"The staff for really good overall but disheartening when you go to an all-inclusive and if you're not handling them a $5 tip every time they bring a drink then you watch them avoid you. The food was good overall but there is no buffet backup so if you don't have a reservation you're eating at the coffee shop. And we were stuck here during the cartel attack and had to stay and they tried to hit me for double what Expedia charges. Super slap in the face. The concierge Carlos was extremely good to deal with."
