"We absolutely love this hotel, its so family friendly and has everything you need for a great holiday. My kids loved the pool, the breakfast was amazing with a lot of variety. This is our second time visiting this hotel and we would go again. Great loacation with many great walk and sights nearby."

"It’s the perfect stay to stop just off the M6 when driving from Scotland to England. It’s a beautifully decorated pub, with lovely staff and excellent breakfast and dinner. This time our ferry was cancelled from Mull and so we had to change the booking at the last moment. They were understanding and there was no problem rolling over the booking until we could get off the island. We will be forever loyal to this wonderful stop just south of Penrith. "

"we only stayed one night but really enjoyed our stay checkin was easy and relaxed, all the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. we had a meal in the bar area at night and breakfast in the morning both really good. our room looked to have just been refurbished and had all we needed if we are in the the area we would stay again. thanks. "I've stayed in countless holiday apartments and cottages throughout the Lakes and would say that I enjoyed the view and the quiet from Chapel Cottage the most.On a clear crisp February morning, the village below with the backdrop of the other side of the valley is stunning.The cottage has everything you need. It is more traditional that flash so don't expect absolute luxury but it's super cosy downstairs but has a spacious kitchen and three double bedrooms, one with an ensuite.Askham is just over a mile away with two great pubs and the Michelin restaurant at Askham Hall. That said, the Queens Head now only does pizzas and Askham Hall is up for sale. Had a couple of solid 'pub grub' meals at the Punchbowl.Plenty of walks- Pooley Bridge is about 4 miles away, there are the eastern fells to explore, Haweswater/Bampton and a nice walk along the river Lowther to Askham and beyond.I usually like to try different properties but this is one I would return to in the spring or summer to sit out the front and have a glass of wine with that amazing view."

"Clean and spacious room, sitting by the fire in the bar is lovely. Breakfast was delicious, however the room was freezing, the amazing staff member serving breakfast did turn on the heating but it didn't help much. "

"This guest house is a gem! Our family enjoyed staying here on our way home from the Scottish Highlands. It was immaculate and the beds comfortable. The breakfast was brilliant! We hope to return."
