"Idyllic location and property! We had everything we could possibly need in the house, We really appreciated the coffee, tea and cookies at check-in. The kids loved seeing the bunnies and sheep that surrounded the property. The check-in process was very smooth and easy. So close to everywhere in the Lake District and easy day trips to larger cities like York or Blackpool. Lowther Castle is so close and a MUST with children. Would definitely stay here again."

"Two couples, stayed for four nights. Clean comfy and warm aided by the nice little wood burner. Two good pubs and a Michelin starred restaurant within easy walking distance. The pubs do tend to stop serving food early and in the case of Queens Head are not open all week so plan accordingly. This was in early Feb so no complaints about the pubs."

"Another lovely stay there Chapel Cottage.Plus points:Excellent location and great views.Cottage extremely well equipped.Warm and cosyBeautiful gardenMinus points:Rubbish not collected from previous visitors so had to leave ours next to full boxes on drive.Housekeeping :Lots of dust and detritus under 2 seater settee in lounge.Flies on window cillsNo j cloth or cloths to wipe down surfaces in kitchenNo pillow protectors on 2 stained pillows on double bed"

"Room wasn't great for the cost (was pretty small, but is limited because of the type of building), however the bathroom looked like it had recently been refurbished, and the room was clean. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were very helpful."

"This was a short holiday for my husband and me, and our adult children. We had cosy fires every evening and some nice meals in the dining room and the area. Plenty of walks, plenty of shops in Penrith for buying supplies. Very clean and well equipped cottage. Thoughtfully decorated. Very quiet area. We will be back I am sure."

"We arrived to a fresh, clean accommodation. The beds were very comfy and plenty of storage for your clothes.We had a lovely card and a bottle of wine waiting for us, thank you.There were a few dead flys and some still flying around the rooms. We did use fly spray and there was a fly zapper.One suggestion would be to have some leaflets or a welcome book from other guests. Also a book to tell you emergency numbers."

"Fantastic week away at the old mill. Beautiful secluded location and we loved watching the trains go by. Penrith a very short drive away probably 15 mins and same for pooley bridge/ullswater which is beautiful. Lots of restaurants and pubs nearby to eat out at. We arrived on the Saturday, heating was on and we found everything to be very clean and tidy. We didn’t really need to buy anything i.e washing up liquid, toilet roll etc. someone has also kindly cut up lots of logs and kindling for the fire. We were also greeted with a bottle of wine and a box of shortbread which was a nice touch. Highly recommended!"
