「The property was in a rural location and looked attractive from the outside. The staff were all friendly and helpful and breakfast was nice. The bedroom was quite dark and as its an old building wasnt particularly well sound proofed. The bathroom constantly had a terrible smell, like damp. This was very unpleasant.」

「Gorgeous looking hotel. Already lovely but excited to see it when their plans to gain a 4th star come to fruition. My only qualms are rather thin walls to the next bathroom (you can hear the next rooms shower power unit) and the ventilation (weather was low 20s but room got full sun and with no air con it was very hot, even with windows fully open). Otherwise, tasteful decor, a really nice restaurant with super food and a beautiful location.」

「What a lovely hotel, the room was lovely and breakfast very good. We ate in the restaurant, the food was very good, service a little slow」

「A great stay at The George. A warm welcome, great comfy family room and wonderful breakfast.」

「Excellent all round. Lovely big rooms and great staff. Food brilliant for dinner and also breakfast.」

「Had a nice stay for our anniversary. Good suggestions for local walks. Wine and food was nice. It was a little disappointing that they did not do anything to mark our 10 year wedding anniversary and we had put a note on our booking. Drinks are quite expensive £6.50 for a pint/£10 for prosseco glass」

「Great hotel we stayed there at least 3 times, great value hotel, only a bit further out but not much an issue as you need to drive there to get anyway. I would definitely recommend it.」

「We booked this as a last minute booking and wasn't sure ehat we were expecting but wow what a place! Beautifully designed, nice and relaxing. Staff couldnt do enough and great value for the rooms, Breakfast was lovely too! Only 20 minutes away from York City Centre will definitely be staying again」

「Definitely a 5 star B&B. Lovely big room with terrace seating outside, overlooking the sheep and guinea fowl in the fields. Loads of parking. Very clean and well presented. The owners have pretty much thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and feel homely. Breakfast, with loads of choice, is cooked freshly to order in the area that serves as a bistro on several evenings in the week. We ate at the bistro - 'Feather and Beak' on one occasion and the food was outstanding. The owners...

「Great place. A few minutes walk from the main lodge where you leave your car. There is a parking bay to unload your gear if required. Note there is no lift so not suitable if you have walking difficulties. Nice modern room with big bathroom. Tv is tiny」

「Room was clean, staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s a pretty good location too, only 10 minute walk to city centre. Check in and checkout was very straightforward and there’s maps available at the front desk of the city centre and surrounding areas, staff at front desk explain very well how to get to places. Would stay again on my next trip to York :)」

「Make sure to check in via the hotel entrance on Blake Street and not make the mistake of entering the restaurant (which is affiliated but not hotel management) - they tried to tell us the room wasn't ready and suggested we have some drinks in their venue (at our cost) until there room was ready and the 'reception queue' had died down. We ignored their offer and got checked in within 10 mins when we found the correct entrance. The hotel management should do themselves a favour and advise the...
