「We didn't make it in time to try the restaurant, but the menu looked great, as was the St Austell beer. We received a very friendly welcome and were shown to our rooms in the annex next door. Everything was spotlessly clean and the room had all we needed. Breakfast was from a great selection and we checked out without issue. Fantastic. 」

「The house is spotlessly clean and it’s very well laid out , from arriving and getting key ( a lovely lady answered the bell and advised how to get the key ) . You get in as is very clean , it has 4 double rooms and one shared shower/toilet , very impressive with the lay out . I would 100% recommend and book again」

「We had the attic room and it's very spacious. The bedroom has a huge bed that is not too soft and we slept like the dead. Dual aspect with sky lights. Fan and extra soft cuddly blankets if needed. Hairdryer, ironing board, iron and microwave. However, the fridge was the reason I booked. A seating area where you can chill without a TV on and a small book shelf with a wide variety of books. 「We absolutely loved staying at The Barbican Hotel. It’s in a great location, near the beach and town. We were greeted so kindly and looked after so well. Our room was fresh and bright, very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was wonderful! Well cooked and presented! I can honestly say, we couldn’t have chosen a better guest house! Thank you for making our stay so comfortable and welcoming!」

「Lovely ‘simple self-catering’ in the heart of Dartmoor. Great set of appliances to have a nice coffee and brekky in bed! Coffee and non-dairy milk included - thank you Terry :) we really enjoyed our stay and had a super sleep. The hot tub looked inviting but the weather was just a bit too miserable for us to venture out there. Next time!」

「Didn’t live up to the hype」

「Due to a wedding in the property, which we were not warned about (apparently Hotel can't contact Expedia customers), we got very little sleep. Some of the wedding guests decided to have their own party/social event between 2:30 AM - 5:30 AM meaning we got virtually no sleep. Rang reception to inform them of the noise at 3.45am. They told us they couldn't do anything and to ask for financial compensation when we checked out in the morning. Such a shame as the room was beautiful and we were...

「We loved the size of the double room en suite overlooking the countryside. We loved being in such an old building, and the way they decorated the walls with local historical significance. To think my ancestors may have entered this place through the generations.」
