"I had a less than stellar experience here. I had booked a room with two queen beds and knew it wouldn’t be a top of the line hotel. I felt like I already had tempered my expectations. That’s totally okay - I was getting a decent price compared to other hotels near Universal Studios. I get a call about an hour before check-in to tell me the room they had for me had a plumbing/sewage issue and they could give me two rooms with one king bed each instead. Over the phone, it was challenging to understand what they were offering. I couldn’t tell if the rooms were adjoining or two separate rooms. With just my wife, my nine year old and I, I’d prefer one room but I figured I’d wait and see the situation first before getting too annoyed. I asked what the alternative was and he said the room with the sewage issue was our alternative. They kept using the word “upgrade” to describe what they were doing, but it sounded like an inconvenience to me if I truly was accepted two separate rooms. I accepted the two rooms (my mistake) because I knew it would be challenging for me to find a different hotel on such late notice anyway. Like I thought, it was an inconvenience. My wife used one room"

"At first we thought we were going to be treated as VIPs and have a great room. However, when we walked in, the room did not smell so fresh. It seemed they used some scent to cover the bad smell. The carpet did not seem clean either. There was dust all throughout the light fixtures in the bathroom. The whole room actually needed a thorough and complete updating. There were 2 bathrobes there that needed to be replaced because they both were in tatters. They also needed to replace the towels as they were already old, not fluffy and white. They were rather tired looking and need replacement. There was no breakfast. The restaurant was under construction yet no one gave us a heads-up. The only helpful staff member was Larissa when we checked out in the morning. It wasn't an inexpensive place either. We were rather disappointed that we cancelled our second booking."
