The Malecon is a popular beachside promenade in Puerto Vallarta. Locals and tourists alike use this boardwalk, which is more than a mile (1.6 kilometers) long, as a meeting point. The area is particularly busy on summer nights. Watch street performers under the palm trees, sample a variety of Mexican street food and enjoy the sunset over the ocean.

The Malecon is a great place to sample the local cuisine. Try a piece of grilled fish on a skewer for lunch, or grilled corn with lemon or cheese. A serving of cold tejuino is great on a hot day. This fermented, iced drink is very popular in this part of Mexico, and it is made from the same corn dough as tortillas. Buy a coconut with a straw, a drink called coco de agua the water inside the coconut is refreshing and is sometimes garnished with lemon and salt. At night, try out tuba, an alcoholic coconut drink that can include walnuts or apple. The Malecon is also lined with sit-down restaurants for more formal dining.

Walk the length of the Malecon to see juggling acts, mimes and musicians playing traditional Mexican folk music. On the beach, the impressive sand sculptures carved by local artists provide a number of great photo opportunities.

The Malecon is also the fashion district of Puerto Vallarta. You can find many clothes, jewellery and leather outlets along the walkway. There are also many artworks for sale, from paintings of Los Muertos beach to mosaics. Hawkers selling handmade goods are common in this area, particularly in summer, and they can be persistent.

The Malecon runs along the edge of the water at Los Muertos beach. It is a 30-minute walk from central Puerto Vallarta.

Upon arrival the 2 staff members never greeted us or introduced themselves. They did not let is know about the schedule power outage the next day that was scheduled from 7am-3pm. We were told that we had a kitchenette but it actually was only a small fridge. The pool was absolutely disgusting. It was very cloudy water full of leaves. The tiles around the edge were falling off. There was no ladder to get in and out of pool. The service at the pool was horrible as clearly we were interrupting a show on there phone. They never asked us if we wanted a drink or anything. They did eventually give us our complimentary drink. After we showered we sat down to order food they were not prepared to serve food. We then noticed cockroaches in the bathroom that were coming up from the sink. We notified them and they sprayed raid and left us in the same room with the raid. The curtains around the bed were moldy and the floor was rotting in spots. The maintenance was extremely lacking. The design and concept is there for a very cozy romantic getaway. It is definitely a extremely steep climb up to the bungalows. Also another steep climb to pool area. The ocean view was extremely limited even though we booked ocean view. Queen size bed is a double bed with a very large bite mark in sheet into mattress. Pictures on the internet are definitely not what it is.

It was important that we had a balcony. And the management took it upon themselves too allow my daughter and I to sign a release. And it was so wonderful we enjoyed our room at 413. The beds were very comfortable in the shower had a lot of pressure and the view was amazing pool and ocean. The staff in the restaurant were fantastic.

Our stay was while hurricane Simon and Trudy were passing through. The hotel did an incredible job of keeping all the guest updated on the hurricanes and an even better job of making you feel completely safe. The amount of work that is done to protect the guests is unbelievable. At no time did I feel afraid or concerned that we were in danger. Clean up after Simon passed was quick and done with very little inconvenience to the guests. 10/10 for all the hard work the complete staff did during our stay. I would also recommend putting aside a little cash for the Friday night tasting on the upper deck. The food was incredible, presentation was fantastic, a great experience. The staff did their very best to make the weather conditions a small inconvenience to our holiday and we appreciated that very much. Thank you to all the staff for all your hard work and dedication.
