Lovely garden cottage, Hamakua waterfall district, 100% solar
10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (143)
"We were delighted with Honoka'a and enjoyed an evening at a ranch west of Waimea, day trips to Kona, Hilo, a tropical garden, Hilo Farmer's market, and Captain Cook monument (for two of us hikers). The accommodations were great for 6 adults. Also enjoyed the oranges off the tree in the backyard."

OCEANFRONT private flat, with POOL and steps from BEACH
10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (67)
"This lodging worked perfectly for my husband and I and our 21 year old son. The pull-out sofa is extremely comfortable. The kitchen was very well appointed with plenty of spices and starter sets of coffee and treats. The pool is lovely and refreshing and has three levels. The views of the cruise ships sailing into the port of Hilo each day was enjoyable. And Honoli’i beach is just a short walk up the street. The lodging provides guests with beach chairs, beach umbrella and kid boogie boards...

"The house was a roomy older house, conveniently located 5 minutes from downtown Hilo. Overall, the house was terrific. The only drawback was the shower stall and showerhead. The shower flow was insufficient. A hand-held shower head would be better!"

Rain Forest Apartment!
10.0 out of 10, Exceptional, (104)
"We absolutely loved our 8-night stay at Kepi and Jim’s place. In fact we’re already back here for another 3 nights! Kepi has thought of everything you might need from beach towels and chairs to a hard sided cooler with freezer packs. The lush garden view from the lanai is even more beautiful than the pictures can show. We highly recommend Kepi’s place as a lovely home away from home to stay, relax, cook your own meals and sightsee this side of the island. You know you’re in Hawaii when you stay...

"This property was like returning to my childhood memories. I was raised on Oahu. I remembered the sights (neighbors, furnishings, streets), sounds (dogs, chickens, people upstairs), scents (plants & flowers) of growing up in the islands. Great friendly hosts. Good kitchen for cooking at home. Definitely would stay again. It helped that I lived in Hilo for 6 years so I knew my way around. It was like staying with family. "

"This is our second time staying at this lovely property. We came over from Kona side for World Sprints time trials for outrigger canoe and it’s the perfect spot for resting and relaxing after a long day of paddling. So cozy and peaceful. The hosts are so gracious, the accommodations well thought out and the hot tub is the icing on the cake. This is now our go-to spot when staying over this side. Looking forward to our next visit. Mahalo!"

"We only stayed for 3 nights, but Karla's place was in the perfect location for exploring the East Coast of the Big Island and Volcanoes National Park. Karla met us when we arrived and introduced us to her cottage. Her pride of ownership shows both in talking with her and also in all the little things about the cottage that made staying here very convenient and comfortable. She has a notebook that she prepared with menus and descriptions of all the local restaurants, locations of grocery stores,...

Private Studio with ocean views on Hamakua coast.
9.8 out of 10, Exceptional, (51)
"Everything was very modern and clean. It would be nice if there was a kitchen sink or basin in which to wash our dishes. A simple coffee machine would work better than a Keurig machine as there was only one pod per day and we enjoy a few cups of coffee throughout the day. A few extra utensils would also be handy as we like to cook our meals."

A Private Getaway in a Tropical Rainforest Garden- One mile from National Park
9.6 out of 10, Exceptional, (202)
"This was our second trip to this property and time & the owner's pride in it has only made it better. We never tire of visiting Kilauea when we visit the Big Island and Jim's lodging is only about a mile from the entrance to Volcanoes National Park. Its when you end the day however, that his place is special. It is literally in a living garden of tropical plants. To look out the window and see anthuriums, if only those as there are far more types of flowers, is wondrous. A walk through his...
