"Besides being the world's oldest hotel, its worth the trip and stay for the way it immerses you in nature and in Japanese heritage. From the nature-facing onsens to the kaiseki dining experience, to the tatami floored rooms, its like escaping into a different world."

"The best option of you want to live the real Japanese experience."

"Big Pao with very nice beds and clean separate bathroom. The food is fabulous."

"It‘s a bit of the beaten path and not fancy but the staff is super friendly and helpful. If you get a room looking out over the lake you can see Mt Fuji from your bed if it’s not hiding."

"Stayed here on a family holiday in 2 double rooms. Convenient location as we were driving and good value. Very helpful staff. Clean rooms with amenities available as required. Dining options are available nearby; the sushi place directly across the road is excellent! Would be happy to recommend to others who would like a slightly unusual place to stay "
