"This hotel is an absolutely beautiful location of Kyoto and in walking distance of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yasaka Shrine, Pontocho Alley, and the rest of Gion. The property is beautifully kept and clean in a minimalist, Japanese fashion. The rooms (or at least mine) was small but welcoming and met all needs. The staff is friendly and helpful. There were some occasional language barriers, but we are truly the guests in this hotel and country and it was an overall wonderful experience."

"The first room we had was dirty so they quickly changed us to a clean room. They are militant about taking your shoes off here, we loved the free dessert bar, but overall the hotel was absolutely packed with tourists and kind of crazy. The staff, however, went above and beyond to take care of every need we had. The rooms are small for us Americans but the bed was comfortable. "

From the welcome greeting as you steped out of taxi through the personalized sit down check in. Explaining the property. "The hotel was close to the station and the garden. The staff was very friendly and helpful however for the entire duration of my stay, the room spewed only hot air from its vents. It was incredibly hot inside the room at all times and made it difficult to sleep. Other than that, it was a good place"

"No good shopping nearby. Towels and toilet were smelly. Staff did not seem happy to help. We thought staying next to Nijo station would be convenient, but this wasn’t worth it considering the nearly 30 noisy ambulances that went by during our two day stay. Breakfast was ok. "
