"I was very impressed with this hotel and can only use superlatives to describe my experience. The staff were some of the most pleasant people I have ever met, especially Nilam at the front desk who seems born to work in hospitality. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the lobby was tastefully decorated and inviting. The breakfast was outstanding in both variety and quality and the coffee was hot and delicious. The location was perfect! I honestly did not find even one negative about this stay."

"The room was clean, and the staff was helpful, but the property is outdated. And the Griffin building is separate from the hotel so you really don’t get the experience of staying there. And heaven forbid your key not work, which happened to me three times, because it means you have to return to the check-in at the main hotel. While you can walk to the main attraction of Colonial Williamsburg, for the price paid, I would not stay again."

"Staying the night was not bad. It definitely was showing it's age. With the walls being very thick, it was quiet in the room, which was nice. The heat was provided by a portable heater on the counter. The clerk was very friendly and helpful."

"The pool clean but the hot lukewarm. Staff had it set at 85 degrees and wouldn't turn up the temperature. The building structure of the hotel had cracks and wood window frames falling apart or missing. Breakfast was bagels, cereal and muffins. Our toilets in both rooms worked only half the time. I had to find a plunger to unclog the toilet. At check-in the desk person tried charging my cc twice and wasn't going to give us our rooms. I prepaid for 2 rooms. Overall visit 1.5 stars."

"It was a very cute room. Very historic. There were ants all over however. But the location was the best. If you are looking for a quiet retreat the Market Square Tavern rooms are not for you. The cannon goes off a lot and drum and fife play frequently. But you can walk everywhere from it."
