Atlantic City is oneof the most popular resort cities on America’s east coast. It’s located onAbsecon Island, New Jersey, and has attractive beaches, casinos, restaurants, bars and amusement piers. Since the first railroad reached Absecon Island in1854, Atlantic City has provided carnival-like entertainment for those from NewYork and other major cities. Historic sights and art deco-style architecturekeep Atlantic City charming, despite all the developments.

Before settlersarrived in the late 17th century, the Lenni-Lenape Indians made the most ofAbsecon Island’s subtropical climate in summer only. Nowadays, the warmermonths from June to September are still the most visited by tourists and canget very crowded.TheAtlantic City Boardwalk is the small city’s main entertainment precinct. It’swhere you’ll find Steel Pier, an amusement park on the waterfront, and thehistoric Boardwalk Hall. Atlantic City is famous for its casino resorts and itsforeshore has plenty of bars and fine-dining options.

Learn about localhistory at the Absecon Lighthouse. Follow the coast south to Margate to visitLucy the Elephant. This delightful structure from 1881 has become a symbol ofthe Jersey coast. Kids will also love the amusement parks, such as Gillian'sWonderland Pier in Ocean City and Raging Waters in Wildwood.

Atlantic City isconnected to the mainland by road. It’s easy to get there by car and you canalso go by train or bus. In the city, public transport is affordable and“jitney” buses run parallel to the boardwalk and to and from other major hubs. The Atlantic City International Airport is a 20-minute drive from downtown andthe well-connected Philadelphia International Airport is just over an houraway.

Atlantic City hasbeen a popular destination for vacationers for over 150 years, and its livelywaterfront precinct is a fun place for a long weekend on the New Jerseycoastline.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino is decent. I would go again after the coronavirus is gone forever.

This is not a friendly city. Philidelphians and New Yorkers descend upon AC and think they own the town and demand attention, making the experience tense for everyone else; AC natives seem overworked and underpaid and with broken spirits.

I highly recommend dining at Kelsey's. They have fantastic southern food and amazing live music at night (though it may be a bit loud for some people). Reservations are highly suggested but it is definitely worth it.
