"We've stayed at the Churchill several times over the last few years. This was the low point. The nearby garage has closed, and there's no place to park nearby now that isn't at valet prices ($50-60/night plus tip). We parked in a permit zone overnight and used the morning grace period (until 9 where we were parked) to make it work on a monday morning. This is a better strategy for weekend nights when permits aren't necessary, and even during the week a first-offense ticket (about $35) costs less than a garage. Finally, our room (320) had a wonderful view of an oil tank outside the windows and a small parking lot beyond that. This was probably our punishment for going through expedia. At best, the Churchill is old, a little musty, and occasionally shows signs of neglect. Our toilet seat was missing a rear attachment and moved when sat upon. But the bed, shower, and hvac are always good, and we've never found the place to be noisy. It's a great location. For a night or two, that's enough. If money is no object, the Hilton across the street is a better hotel."

"The room overall was in okay shape. The bathroom definitely needed a deep cleaning. There were hairs in the sink and in the corner by the toilet as well as something splattered on the wall. The bedding was clean, but around the bed area was very dusty on the floor. Appeared as though the focus was linens and counter tops, but not much detail to other areas. The trash cans didn't have trash bags which would make for more clean up in my opinion. Not much interaction with any staff, but the ones that I did talk to were very kind. Breakfast was a good as well as the evening reception. Overall, I'd rate this a 3/5 for my stay, but would most likely not stay here again."

"Great location and very friendly staff. The front desk could be more attentive — at check‑in they didn’t explain the room locations or mention upgrade options. The door staff were exceptionally helpful. Easy area to walk around for coffee or a quick bite. Room view was terrible — I’ll remember to request a higher floor with a street view. With the heavy rain, we had planned to spend some time in the restaurant before going out, but it was unexpectedly closed for a private event."

"I don’t know what the hotel will be like in the future, they just got bought out by another management company. However, when we stayed there was a horrible mold smell everytime you turned on the water, and no working ventilation in the bathroom. No coffee machine or microwave in the room either. They have a restaurant and cafe in the hotel but their prices are outrageous. BIGGEST ISSUE: hidden fees. There was a $130 “facility fee” that we were charged upon arrival that was not mentioned on Expedia. Then on top of that, there’s a $50 a day parking fee for the garage below which the parking fee was not upfront either. Staff are friendly, but the rooms are only cleaned every 3 days unless you ask for extra cleanings and new towels. I’d personally recommend going to a slightly more expensive hotel that won’t have the hidden fees, and will have a coffee machine in the room or even free breakfast because it’ll end up being cheaper in the long run. But again, all of these things could change over the next year as the hotel itself is changing naming and updating things. "

"We had no need for business facilities. Close to a # of shops and restaurants. Pet friendly. Valet parking was expensive but probably in line compared to other places in DC. Although expensive, we could get car quickly. "
