"This was my first Ryokan experience, and it was incredible. Shinkai used Lake Suwa as the inspiration for Tomorrow in Your Name. As a huge fan of the film, I wanted to visit Suwa to see the place for myself, and wanted to do it while staying at a Ryokan. Shinyu offered a room with a lake view, so it sounded perfect. "If you're looking for an onsen experience this is the place! We were welcomed as we drove up the windy mountain road to the hotel. The check in experience was calm and efficient. Dinner, breakfast and private bath times chosen. The baths are wonderfull, overlooking the river and with views down the forested valley. Dinner and breakfast were amazing, although our kids sadly didn't feel adventurous enough. It was a truly magical experience on our first trip to Japan."
