The COVID-19 outbreak may have changed how we travel, but it hasn't curbed our lust for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to navigate travel's new challenges:

• Before committing to anything, check if any travel restrictions or bans apply — in both your destination and origin. Stay informed with the latest updates by checking official government websites.
• You must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, even at screening checkpoints. Be ready to lower your mask for ID verification when asked by a TSA employee.
• To avoid cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your pass directly to a TSA officer.
• TSA is now allowing passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on luggage. This will need to be removed from your bag for screening.
• To reduce handling during the screening process, place personal items such as your keys, wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on instead of the bins.
• Transport all food items in a clear plastic bag and also put them in a screening bin. Keeping your food separate from your carry-on makes it less likely that a TSA employee will need to open your bag for inspection.
