"This was our first time in a Ryokan! And we loved it!! We enjoyed wearing the Kimonos provided and having a multi course dinner! They were also able to provide vegetarian options for dinner as well. The onsen at the hotel was much larger and nicer than the free ones outside the hotel. There is a toilet in the room but no shower, so you have to use the public bath to shower."

We didn’t and have to pay 1/4 more and it was already expensive. "Our stay started off well with a shuttle pick up from the station. The traditional look and style of the Yorozuya is beautiful. My husband and I booked the private spa for 2 hours our first night and it only cost $100 for us both to use. The private spa was absolutely amazing and even though it was modern compared to everything else, I loved that it was a private all inclusive experience that my husband and I could enjoy the baths and sauna together at our leisure. "Amazing stay at Shimaya. The owners, as mentioned in other reviews are outstanding. Gave us a ride to the Snow Monkeys and were very helpful. The breakfast (¥700) was simple and quick - toast, fruit, yoghurt, coffee and juice! Onsen was clean and great. We were on the fourth floor and the views were unreal. This may not be an issue for most people, but I read a misleading review which made me book this property thinking there were private showers and that is NOT the case.
