"Our favorite place we have ever stayed. Service was excellent and it was an extremely peaceful environment (which we desperately needed after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo). The breakfast was fantastic each morning, and the kaiseki dinner we enjoyed on our first night was easily one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. We will be back any time we visit Kyoto."

"BLACK MOLD, don’t book. I don’t like to leave bad reviews but this is a real health concern. The woman asked to “clean” it and offered another took but the while building smelled like mold. You can’t simply clean mold. You need to have it professionally removed. I understand Japan is humid and the bathroom is wet but other hotels offer a dehumidifier. We decided not to stay and we could not get a refund. Truly sucks since we couldn’t see the place until we checked in."
