"Rooms very clean and the hotel is quite a new hotel so internally beautifully furnished. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Breakfast inc in our rate was very good with great selection of fruit etc. just lacking cereals. Great cooked breakfast with chef making omelettes etc Rooms were not huge but well furnished and well laid out. Very comfortable bed. Lovely clean & fresh bedding. Great position for exploring Funchal and being at the bottom of the steep incline down to the town easy walk to Marina & town and to the old Town & theFunicular. So good position for many of the don’t miss sights. Has roof bar & swimming pool with great views. Snacks available also on the roof."

"Lovely quiet boutique style hotel. Excellent breakfast, served on terrace with great views across Funchal. Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel 10/15 minutes walk from Old Town but on a steep hill. Walk back a bit challenging in the heat, although buses available nearby. No bar, (only honesty bar), and no pool. Good sized room, with added bonus of an equipped kitchen area. Room decor in need of some minor attention, (damp patch on wall, shower cubicle tired). Mini bar and coffee machine in room. Charge made for coffee pods, (and mini bar). Would really expect free tea and coffee making facilities in a hotel of this standard. Overall, a great place to stay and would definitely recommend."

"Definitely a 5 star experience. Everything is clean and well maintained. Well trained staff. The room is spacious and the bed and linens are top notch! the breakfast is superb! The only thing that needs updating is the bath/shower. The pressure is fantastic but the drain can't keep up and the temperature is hard to regulate. Restaurants: Brisa do Mar, excellent. I would skip Villa Cipriani, food was average."
