"Excellent stay at Turim Santa Maria Hotel. Staff couldn't do enough and were super helpful and friendly. Room was modern, clean and had everything I needed. Breakfast buffet was fresh and plenty of it. Good location just back from the seafront and promenade, and easy walking distance to shops and Old Town. The staff pointed me towards their secure storage room to jeep my mountain bike safe during the stay and avoid using my room. A great visit and I must say that I was really comfortable and had a great time. The rooftop terrace and pool was a fantastic bonus. An amazing feature and a great place to spend time. Pool was chilly - but this is a February visit. Good hotel, good value and recommended. "

"Nice apartment. Some issues though. The washing machine leaked and while we reported that, the management team showed no interest in fixing it. We couldn’t get laundry dry in the apartment. Initially we asked for and were promised a fan, then we were told that the room with the dryer could be left unlocked for us, then it was locked while our laundry was in the machine, then management finally just told us where the key is kept. Apartment is only refreshed and serviced as standard once a week. We had a two week stay. No cleaning equipment provided as standard to enable guests to clean the apartments ourselves. Not even a broom to sweep the floors which get dirty quickly. No cleaning products provided. Appreciate that everyone has different standards but this isn’t ok considering the price point. The courtyard at the back could potentially be lovely but the plants need cutting back. We booked here particularly because the apartments have outdoor space but our balcony was very dark. Also see comment above about drying laundry, cutting back the plants would improve air circulation and enable the sun to get to the space to get stuff dry. Plants also attract bugs. Management were responsive but we found that we’d report something, they’d offer a good solution and then back pedal to a solution that wasn’t as helpful, e.g when we asked for a fan. Overall, looks great on the surface but look beneath and less good underneath. "

"This is a lovely hotel in a great location, right on the middle of Funchal Old Town. The rooms are very clean and comfortable, breakfast is excellent."

"Hotel location and parking were extremely hard to find and navigate. The hotel in itself was nice and had kind staff. Our room was upgraded but it had a very strange layout. Tub was in the middle of the room which is awkward if traveling with friends and family, the shower and sink leaked into the main room, and there was insufficient lighting. Other than that it was a pleasant stay! "
