Scenic beaches, historic castles, museums and an aquarium make up this picturesque city on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca.

Palma de Mallorca is the picturesque capital of the Balearic Islands. Many travelers are attracted to the area’s sandy beaches and historic center filled with ancient churches, castles and museums. Visit the national park, the aquarium and other significant landmarks.

Sunbathe on Cala Mondrago Beach and take a refreshing dip in the sea. Enjoy picturesque views and tranquil settings on the coast. Just east of this area are many resorts around the Palma Beach district.

Visit the 13th-century Basilica of St. Francis in the city center and admire its baroque façade and elegant windows. Explore arcades, tombs and columns in the building’s interior. From the Palma Cathedral, a giant gothic structure, enjoy views of the sea and the Parc de la Mar (Park of the Sea). The collections and exhibits at Es Baluard Modern Art Museum include more than 500 works of art from contemporary artists. Take the kids to see colorful fish at the Palma Aquarium, where you can dive with sharks and learn about marine life.

Discover the 14th-century gothic Bellver Castle west of the city. It is remarkable due to its circular shape, rare among European castles.

See Lluc Monastery in the island’s northwest area. Take a walking tour to appreciate the remarkable architecture and listen to its famous boys’ choir. While in this part of the island visit the charming Port de Soller Lighthouse.

Make a trip to Cabrera National Park, a group of islands south of Mallorca. Join a guided boat tour of the preserved area to see exotic animals, such as the sargantana lizard.

Reach Palma de Mallorca by flying to the island from most major European cities. Get a bus or taxi or drive a rental car from the airport to the city center, a journey of about 5 miles (8 kilometers). You can also get to the city by ferry from Spanish cities including Barcelona.

Palma de Mallorca is an ideal spot for a vacation, whether you want to relax by the beach, discover rare and exotic wildlife or learn about art and history.

Mallorca is a must-visit destination! The island is beautiful and the people are helpful and friendly. We ate the most fresh and perfectly cooked seafood.

Nice for walks, clean. Plenty of very expensive stores with no customer in sight. Many places to eat but of very poor quality and definitely overpriced.

Unfortunately we had poor weather our week. Streets around the cathedral are lovely to explore shops & restaurants. Reminded us of streets in Rome.

Palma is definitely a privileged place in the world it combines amazing weather, impecable clean city with some modern characteristics but without losing its heritage and historic personality. Traffic and parking is a tough topic
