"We had a very pleasant stay at hotel around TAKAYAMA, an Ascend Collection Hotel. The hotel staff was very helpful, and friendly. The location of the hotel is at walking distance to the trai. Station, bus station, the old town and restaurant. The onsen bath is included with our stay and accessible inside the hotel. We rented the electric bikes from the hotel and dicovered the old town. Oh yeah, the lounge on the 8th floor also provides complementary sake, plum wines and whiskey... this is by far the best experience at a Japanese hotel that we experience so far during our trip in Japan."

"Breakfast meals were top notch with local specialties to try. The meals were the same daily. The rooms were decent and clean but basic wear and tear showing in some areas. The onsen was clean HOWEVER the photos with the nice onsen with multiple pools and sweeping views is ONLY the men’s side. The women’s side is accessible via a code that changes daily (get the code from the front desk daily). There is only one pool, no view, 6 wash stations or so and a shower. Generally not busy or full ever. But disappointing the women’s side didn’t have a similar experience with multiple pools or views."

"Room was very nice and spacious and feels luxurious and comfortable. Buffets were nice and had a lot of selections. I was not overly impressed with the Hida beef but it is a personal choice thing. Staff is mostly young friendly gracious people. Buffets are a combination of Japanese and western cuisine. Gift shop is very big. Would stay here again "

"The location is just superb, next to Takayama station. Washer/dryer provided in the room is so convenient for doing our own laundry. Staffs are really helpful and friendly. The only drawback for us is that the room is a bit dusty when we first checked in, they didn’t vacuum and clean properly before; I can actually see the layer of dust on the chair and table provided in the room."

"What a great hotel in Kanazawa ! Our plans were changed at the last minute due onto a typhoon directly hitting Okinawa where we were supposed to stay for 6 nights and we ended up in Kanazawa for 6 nights instead. We really loved the location of this hotel, everything is walkable it’s very close to the station but also to all the e main attractions (market, castle park, the gardens et geisha and samurai districts, etc.). We booked a corner room and it was very spatious and very clean. The beds were a bit firm but comfortable with two choices of pillows. We had a pull out couch, where our baby slept. Breakfast was 4800 Yens for two adults. The buffet had lots of options (western & Japanese style). The only downside was that it’s located on quite a busy street and we would often hear loud cars and ambulances at night (even from the 7th floor) but nothing to stop us from sleeping. I would come back and highlight recommend it."
