Rooms are well designed with comfortable beds and thoughtful conveniences. Walls could be thicker as I could feel some vibrations from next door. Few minor irritations - there are a few steps to get into the hotel. Very cumbersome with a lot of luggage and a not very mobile guest. Has a public bath and laundry facilities. We walked to kenroku-en, the castle and the omicho market. There are lawson, family mart and 7-11 with in 100 meters. "Strange location, near small motorway service area but no access by vehicles to or from it. Huge car parking areas but in March these were virtually empty. Excellent pool/spa and onsen which is free for guests to use and is well used by locals. Posh downstairs lounge area next to restaurant. Staff very friendly and very helpful in the pool/spa area (need a hat for pool/spa but they do lend them. Not enough information given on the restaurant, which was open until 10 pm but took last orders at 8...
