"Great staff and clean room"

"Room was clean and well maintained. AC worked adequately (as far as México goes in our experience) Right on north beach, you’re paying for the location, not necessarily the room or amenities. Includes beach chairs and umbrellas on the beach. One day it seemed full and the towel guy pulled out 2 more chairs and dug a hole and plopped an umbrella down for us. We did not use the pools, one seemed to be in the sun all day and one was out of the pool. Drinks on the beach from Kalak were average for the island beaches both as far as flavor and cost. Not cheap. Snacks we got were not worth our time or money from the restaurant. Only made that mistake twice. Rest of the time we walked to Hidalgo and ate at a restaurant. Bonus is it’s close to the street food cards in the evenings, tacos, tortas, churros. Our favorites were Tacos Toros, great great tacos. Our favorites were the shrimp and pastor. The 3 guys hamburger cart is sneaky good. I ate there a couple nights and honestly best burger I’ve have in quite a while. All in all a great place to stay and we will definitely consider this place on our next trip to our favorite vacation spot"

"After many trips to Isla Mujeres, I decided to try Mia Reef. You cannot beat the direct access to the beautiful beach and snorkelling without having to leave the property. Staff - amazing Water pressure in room - amazing Beach - amazing Cleanliness of property and grounds - amazing Food - great options (including pescatarian and vegetarian) Atmosphere - relaxing and quiet and safe (music in bar played until after 10 which was loud, but once it was off for the night it was dreamy!) Activities - snorkelled right off the beach and saw tons of different fish, and loved the daily stretching/yoga on the pier Will be returning! "

"Our room was spotlessly clean as usual and the cleaning staff was exceptional each day. We really appreciate beach chairs set out early each morning and staff ready to help adjust umbrellas and provide bar service or eats throughout the day. A class hotel on a beautiful beach! "

"When we initially walked toward the building, the side entrance leading towards the mural threw us off. Mainly curb appeal but, you'll forget all about it when you get to the main entrance. The lobby and hallways are spotless and smell clean. The beach view from our room was amazing. The staff was fantastic. Loved Vanessa, Angel and Carmen. The bar area had awesome drinks. We noticed that the room sheets and bed cover were not clean but, the front desk was extremely attentive to anything needed. If you are accustomed to wash cloths, please note that this hotel does not offer them. No biggie. Water pressure wasn't the best and we were on level 2. Overall stay is still 5 stars and we will choose this hotel again. "

"If you want to be on the beach, have great service and no worries then this is the place to stay. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are cold and you can go on your porch and look at the water and listen to the waves, while coconuts fall from the trees. We stay here every time we come to the island and are NEVER disappointed! The friendliest and most trust worthy staff, who goes out of their way to make feel at home. "

"The staff was so kind, helpful and welcoming, but in fairness to other travelers I'm sharing my unfavorable opinion of the stay. The room was clean but very spare, just one very bright overhead light with the switch by the door necessitating my phone light to see my way back to the bed. There were no windows except onto the interior public hallway also brightly lit, and no public space to sit or get fresh air. The room is claustrophobic, all white with a single white sheet for comfort at night. Needing air I sat on the doorstoop at night, directly into someone's spilled beer. The bed is hard, so if you have fibromyalgia like me it's a nightmare: I hurt all over today and barely slept. The safe was broken also. The room was inexpensive but not worth it: I regret not just leaving before it got too late. I feel badly leaving this review because the young couple running the place was so wonderful and I'm reluctant to hurt anyone's small business, but if I'd had this info ahead of time I would have chosen a different hotel. It might be fine for young travelers needing a very basic crash pad though! Owners: please place a bedside light and provide a blanket, and perhaps a chair or bench outside of the entry to prevent midnight beer-sitting on the stoop! "
